Day 2 Started

Welcome to Day 2 of EPT San Remo

Casino San Remo
Casino San Remo

As if on command the dreary clouds and rain of yesterday have gone and the golden rays of sunshine are shining on San Remo again.

For 460 people the sight of the sunshine will hopefully give them the feel good factor they need to get them through the day. That day starts at 12:00 (CET) and will consist of five levels of 75-minutes.

The action yesterday was simply mesmerising so we will be hoping for more of the same today. Team Pokerstars Pro Ruben Visser will certainly be hoping for more of the same; he was simply unstoppable yesterday amassing a princely 251,500 in chips and starts the day as our chip leader.

We may have lost last seasons EPT San Remo champion but there are still plenty of players left in the field who know how to navigate the choppy waters of an EPT Main Event field. Roberto Romanello, David Vamplew, Nicolas Chouity, Carter Phillips, Max Lykov, Pieter de Korver, Salvatore Bonavena and Sebastian Ruthenberg all have EPT silverware on their mantelpiece back home.

Eames Starts Life on The Outer Tables

Level 10 : 600/1,200, 100 ante

John Eames is currently lying in the number ten spot on the EPT Season 7 leader board. He is playing on the selection of tables first likely to break and opened up with his first hand from under the gun. He made it 2,700 to play and Maxim Boguslavskiy asked for a count. Eames gave it to him and the Russian put his shades on before making the call. We saw a flop of {j-Diamonds} {9-Hearts} {10-Diamonds} - royal flush on the day of a royal wedding maybe? Not likely as Eames check folded to a 3,600 bet.

Ramdin Pays Lacay Off

Level 10 : 600/1,200, 100 ante

We reported on day 1 that Ludovic Lacay would not be around long, after he moved all-in for his remaining 10,000 chips with {2-} {4-}. Well he did manage to stick around and he made it to day two with 85,200. That stack has just grown after a spat with Team Pokerstars Pro Victor Ramdin.

We were at the river with 27,000 in the pot. The board was showing {3-Spades} {4-Spades} {2-Diamonds} {10-Clubs} {2-Clubs} and Ramdin had checked to Lacay who had bet 16,700. After a moments pause Ramdin called and mucked his unseen cards after Lacay showed down {a-Diamonds} {10-Spades}. Lacay is now a centurion.

I am Shalam-ov

Level 10 : 600/1,200, 100 ante

Luana Spadaro raised to 3,000 in early position, two people called and Mikhail Shalamov moved all-in from the big blind for 17,200. Spadaro considered her next move for a while before also moving all-in for 25,100 and the two of them were heads up.

Spadaro: {a-Clubs} {j-Spades}
Shalamov: {a-Hearts} {9-Spades}

Board: {8-Clubs} {k-Spades} {3-Spades} {3-Diamonds} {q-Clubs}

Spadaro thumped the table in excitement and Shalamov took off his cap and wiped his brow in frustration. He walked away from the table and Spadaro went after him to shake his hand. It was then that someone realised it was a split pot. If someone sees Shalamov walking around in a daze please tell him.

Phoning it in

Level 10 : 600/1,200, 100 ante

Nicola Grieco opened to 3,300 from late position and it was passed to Martins Adeniya in the small blind who gave Grieco a long cold stare down before moving all in. It was passed to Grieco who tanked for a minute and then, bizarrely, his phone started to ring. Grieco immediately became much more interested in this phone call and passed his cards almost as an afterthought. Adeniya looked bemused but raked the chips in regardless.

Huberis

Level 10 : 600/1,200, 100 ante

Stefan Huber was tanking on the river of a {10-Spades}{8-Spades}{3-Clubs}{3-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds} board against Alain Roy. The latter had fired out 20,400 into a pot of about 35,000 against the Austrian, the bet size representing a significant portion of Huber's stack. After almost five minutes, Huber finally made the call and Roy turned over {a-Diamonds}{a-Hearts}, Huber quickly mucked as the Frenchman moves to about the 200,000 mark.

Korved Up

Level 10 : 600/1,200, 100 ante

Pieter de Korver opened preflop with {a-Hearts}{j-Hearts} and got called by both blinds to see a {10-Hearts}{7-Hearts}{7-} flop, the small blind led for 4,500, the big blind folded and de Korver moved all in for about 40,000. Quick call from his opponent's {7-}{5-} and de Korver picked up a gutshot on the {q-Spades} turn but the river was the {2-Diamonds} and the Dutchman was out.
