Two-Three-Six

Level 2 : 75/150, 0 ante

Registration for Day 1a is open for about another 45 minutes, and we've ticked up to 236 players so far. There were only 191 players for this flight last year, so things are looking good for the turnout. The biggest field we've ever had at EPT Prague was 584, and we like the over on a record-setting 600+ this time around.

Gus Gus?

Level 2 : 75/150, 0 ante

We've just spotted one Gus Hansen meandering around the room carrying a banana and a bible -- of all things. He's still making his rounds through the room, and we're just waiting to see if he decided to buy in and have a go or not.

Oh Dear, O'Dea

Level 2 : 75/150, 0 ante

Mikhail Korotkikh limped into the pot under the gun, and Christian Friedrich made a raise to 600. Eoghan O'Dea called from the button, [Removed:283] from the small blind, and the original limper came along as well for a four-way flop.

It rolled out {3-Clubs} {2-Spades} {8-Diamonds}, and it checked to the raiser. Friedrich continued out with another 1,400, and that shook Koroktih out of the way. O'Dea and [Removed:288] called, though, and the {4-Diamonds} landed on fourth street. This time, the action checked all the way to O'Dea, and he put out a bet of 3,000. [Removed:288] quickly shoved all in for 19,925 total, and O'Dea called just as quickly to put him to the test.

Showdown
O'Dea: {A-Diamonds} {5-Diamonds} (wheel)
[Removed:288]: {3-Spades} {4-Clubs} (two pair)

[Removed:288] was standing up to leave, and he was already one or two steps away from his chair when the {3-Diamonds} hit the river. "Full!" he yelled, and he just kept on strutting as he took a celebration lap around in between the tables.

After counting out his debt, O'Dea is left with less than 3,000 chips and a bit of a scowl.

Jaros' Flush Slightly Better

Level 3 : 100/200, 0 ante

With the board reading {Q-Diamonds}{J-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}{K-Diamonds}, Sam El Sayed bet 5,125 into a pot of about 6,200. His opponent, Petr Jaros, made the call to see the river.

The {Q-Spades} paired the board on the end and El Sayed checked. Jaros checked behind. El Sayed tabled the {8-Diamonds}{5-Hearts} for an eight-high flush. Jaros held the {10-Diamonds}{10-Hearts} for a ten-high flush and won the pot.

Hansen Trying New Things

Level 3 : 100/200, 0 ante

Gus Hansen is trying a couple new things today. Like playing poker, and reading the bible, and Racketlon.

We haven't seen The Great Dane play a serious live tournament since the summer, and it's certainly his first EPT of the season. From what we understand, his poker hiatus is mostly because of Racketlon. If you're not familiar with the Scandinavian sport, don't be embarrassed. It's a four-discipline game that combines table tennis, badminton, squash, and tennis -- a quadrathalon of sorts. Hansen was a junior tennis champ back in the day, and he says he's been training for several hours a day as he pursues the title of Racketlon World Champion.

Also of note is the fact that Hansen has brought a black hardbound Holy Bible with him today, and he's currently thumbing through the Gospels. Not sure what else to say about that.
