Annette Restarts Her Climb

Level 5 : 150/300, 25 ante

Annette Obrestad was up past 65,000 at one point in this tournament but has faltered slightly of late and was sat with 46,000 (still more than 150 big blinds) but now she is back to doing what she does best, hoovering up chips.

She opened the betting with a 600 raise, a raise that Jeff Sarwer in the small blind and Eugen Wagner called in the big blind. The flop came down {8-Spades}{k-Diamonds}{9-Hearts} and all three players checked. The turn was the {6-Diamonds} and Sarwer must have had enough of checking because he lead out with a bet of 1,600, Wagner called but Obrestad came over the top of them both and set the price to play at 6,000. Neither Sarwer nor Wagner was prepared to pay the extra chips and they folded.

Roche Poker

Level 5 : 150/300, 25 ante

Peter "Rush" Roche

Peter Roche is just like Alex Wice when it comes to the speed of his decision making process. It seems that every single motion at the poker table is done in a hurry, as this next hand demonstrates perfectly.

Jesus Cortes Lizano raised to 650 from middle position and Roche three-bet to 2,000 and Lizano made the call. The board eventually ran out {k-Diamonds} {q-Clubs} {5-Diamonds} {6-Clubs} {6-Spades} with Lizano check-calling two streets of super quick betting by Roche. The first bet on the flop was for 2,400 followed up by a 4,000 turn bet. By the time Roche had flicked in his river bet of 7,000 even Lizano had caught the bug folding faster that the 1965 Origami Champion of the World.

Roche ~ 33,000
Lizano ~ 32,000

Behbehani Buys Pot

Level 5 : 150/300, 25 ante

Salman Behbehani has been asking questions about being able to play in tonight's €1,000 bounty tournament but he is still in the Main Event and has just shipped another pot.

Last year's EPT Tallinn winner Kevin Stani started things off with a raise from early position to 600. The player next to act folded but Behbehani called, as did John Eames on the button and David Foldy in the big blind. The dealer put the first three community cards out onto the table, {j-Diamonds}{q-Diamonds}{k-Clubs} and each of the players checked one after another.

The turn was the {Q-Hearts} and Foldy checked, as did Stani but Behbehani fired a bet of 1,200. This bet folded out each of Behbhani's three opponents and he picked up the pot.

Kelly Confused

Level 5 : 150/300, 25 ante
J P Kelly
J P Kelly

Team PokerStars Pro JP Kelly is down to 37,000 after trying, and failing, to get Mark Pukhov off a hand.

The Brit three-bet preflop and led the flop. Pukhov called both times before leading on the turn. Kelly called and then took over the initiative on the river with a bet. The Russian procrastinated before he called.

The final board read {8-Diamonds}{j-Clubs}{4-Clubs}{j-Diamonds}{10-Spades} and Kelly tabled {a-Clubs}{k-Clubs}. Pukhov opened {2-Diamonds}{2-Spades} to a few raised eyebrows. That won't bother him as he's up to 80,000.

Michael Tureniec Loses His Battle With the Grind

Level 6 : 200/400, 50 ante
Michael Tureniec will not be adding an EPT Tallinn win to his collection.
Michael Tureniec will not be adding an EPT Tallinn win to his collection.

Michael Tureniec has just left the building. Behind him we saw a board of {6-Clubs} {8-Clubs} {k-Clubs} {8-Diamonds} {j-Diamonds} and around 5,000 chips being pushed into the direction of Ivan Kudriavtsev. The table chatter confirming all of the money went into the middle pre flop with Tureniec in middle position and Kudriavtsev occupying the button.

Tureniec{a-Spades} {10-Diamonds}

Benny Spinning it Up

Level 6 : 200/400, 50 ante

Benny Spindler was low and needed to get his chips in, and did. He got them in behind but no bother as there were three outs in the deck and one of them had his name stamped on the back.

He three-bet all-in for 7,500 with {a-Hearts}{j-Clubs} and was called by Georgios Tzimas with {q-Spades}{q-Clubs}. An ace appeared on the flop and that was all she wrote.

Anyone Fancy a Fight With T7 Offsuit?

Level 6 : 200/400, 50 ante

There are plenty of ways to move all-in for 12,000 chips with the blinds at 200/400 with an ante of 50, but moving all-in with {10-Clubs} {7-Spades} is not one of the hands you are going to automatically pluck out of your head, but that is exactly the hand that the PokerStars qualifier Vasili Karpenkou found and decided that it was time for a move. The beneficiary was Paolo Della Penna who woke up to find {q-Diamonds} {q-Spades} and the board of {6-Spades} {a-Diamonds} {5-Diamonds} {9-Clubs} {4-Spades} was enough to eliminate Karpenkou and push della Penna back up to over 65,000 chips.

Eames Picks Up Another Pot

Level 6 : 200/400, 50 ante
John Eames
John Eames

John Eames is up to 48,000 after helping himself to a decent sized pot over on Table 3.

It was Mikhail Shahnovich who starting the betting preflop with a raise to 800 from middle position. Two players folded and Eames made the call from the cutoff and Mikael Bergius called from the big blind. A flop reading {2-Clubs}{8-Clubs}{8-Clubs} was greeted by a check from Bergius, a continuation bet of 1,400 from Shahnovich, a call from Eames and then a fold by Bergius.

The dealer put the {j-Diamonds} out on the turn and Eames' call on the flop slowed down Shahnovich who now checked. Eames was not wiling to let his opponent see the river card for free so put out a bet of 3,300. Shahnovich quickly called and the dealer introduced he {Q-Hearts} on the river. Shahnovich checked again, and Eames bet again, this time 6,100. This last bet was enough to win the pot as Shahnovich relinquished his hand.
