McDonald Takes Number One

On the first hand of the final table, action folded to Ilari Sahamies in the hijack seat and he raised to 65,000. Mike "Timex" McDonald was in the small blind and knew he had a lot more chips than both Erik Seidel in the big blind and Sahamies, so he moved all in having them well covered. Both Seidel and Sahamies folded, giving McDonald the first pot.

Off to the Races for Sahamies' Tournament Life

Ilari "Ilari FIN" Sahamies shoved all in under the gun for 604,000 and received a call from JC Alvarado. The rest of the field got out of the way and the cards were turned up.

Showdown

Sahamies{A-Diamonds}{K-Diamonds}
Alvarado{9-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}

It was a coinflip, but Sahamies was in need of some help. The {Q-Spades}{5-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds} flop didn't hit him directly, but it did make him a 52% favorite with a flush draw and two overs. The {8-Spades} turn missed him and dropped his chances to 32%, but that was all he needed as the {6-Diamonds} spiked on the river to fill his flush.

With that, Sahamies jumped into fourth-chip position.

Shakerchi vs. Seidel

Erik Seidel opened for 65,000 under the gun and cleared the field all the way around to Talal Shakerchi, who called on the button. Both blinds got out of the way, the flop fell {3-Spades}{10-Spades}{J-Hearts}, and Shakerchi called a bet of 75,000 from Seidel.

When the dealer burned and turned the {3-Diamonds}, Seidel kept the pressure on with a 150,000 bet, which proved enough to win the pot as Shakerchi folded his hand.
