Kursevich Doubles Through Than Trong To Grab Huge Chip Lead

Level 34 : 125,000/250,000, 30,000 ante
Vadzim Kursevich
Vadzim Kursevich

Vuong Than Trong opened to 500,000 on the button and Vadzim Kursevich re-raised to 1,200,000 from the small blind. Paul Guichard folded his big blind and Than Trong responded by four-bet shoving.

Kursevich wasted no time calling all in for about 8,500,000 with {K-Spades}{K-Diamonds}. Than Trong, with {A-Hearts}{Q-Spades}, hated to see that call and probably hated the {K-Clubs}{5-Hearts}{3-Diamonds} flop even more. The {A-Spades} turn was too little too late for Than Trong as Kursevich locked up the hand. The {7-Hearts} river was merely a formality.

Trong Survives

Level 34 : 125,000/250,000, 30,000 ante

A suddenly short stacked Vuong Than Trong shoved {10-Clubs}{q-Clubs} and got looked up by Paul Guichard holding {a-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}.

The {9-Hearts}{9-Spades}{5-Clubs} flop kept Guichard ahead, as did the {4-Spades} turn, but a miracle {q-Hearts} came down on the river to save Trong's tournament life.

Than Trong for the River

Vuong Than Trong came from from in another all-in confrontation with Yorane Kerignard, and it was the river that came to save him again.

Than Trong open shoved for 1,680,000 from under the gun and Kerignard called from the big blind.

Than Trong: {q-Hearts}{10-Clubs}
Kerignard: {a-Spades}{5-Clubs}

The board ran {9-Spades}{3-Hearts}{6-Hearts}{7-Spades}{8-Clubs} to make him a back-door straight.

Vuong Than Trong Eliminated in 3rd Place (€328,000)

Level 34 : 125,000/250,000, 30,000 ante
Vuong Than Trong 3rd Place.
Vuong Than Trong 3rd Place.

Vuong Than Trong kept shoving and picking up the blinds until suddenly Vadzim Kursevich called him down.

It was {k-Diamonds}{10-Spades} for Trong against {a-Clubs}{j-Clubs} for Kursevich with Trong's tournament life hanging in the balance.

Kursevich stayed ahead on the {9-Spades}{8-Hearts}{5-Spades} flop and despite a sweat on the {7-Diamonds} turn, he stayed there on the {9-Clubs} river to end Trong's EPT Deaville Main Event and take a massive chip lead into heads-up play.

Guichard Finds a Double

The hopes for a short heads up battle have faded somewhat after Paul Guichard got lucky to double up.

He open shoved for 3,175,000 and Vadzim Kursevich made a quick call.

Kursevich: {k-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}
Guichard: {j-Clubs}{3-Clubs}

The board ran {3-Hearts}{9-Spades}{5-Diamonds}{j-Hearts}{6-Spades} to make the Frenchman two-pair. His many supporters on the rail cheered as their man is back in this.

Guichard Coming Back

Level 34 : 125,000/250,000, 30,000 ante

A hand after three-betting Vadzim Kursevich off a pot, Paul Guichard made it 500k from the button and Kursevich called.

The {4-Hearts}{2-Hearts}{2-Diamonds} flop saw Kursevich check-call a 475k bet from Guichard. The turn came the {2-Spades} and Kursevich check-called again, after Guichard made it 650k.

But after checking the {j-Hearts} river and seeing Guichard bet 1.5 million, he laid his hand down.

What was once a 3:1 chip lead is now just 2:1 and it appears Guichard is gaining momentum.
