Barny’s World

Level 2 : 75/150, 0 ante

Barny Boatman limped from first position, the button called and the blinds were in. Four players saw a flop of {a-Diamonds}{k-Diamonds}{9-Hearts} and the big blind, Jannick Wrang, bet 200. Boatman made the call and the other players folded. The turn was the {k-Clubs} and both players checked. A river card {7-Clubs} and Wrang again checked. Boatman threw out a bet of 700 and Wrang had the chips in his hand for a few seconds before making the call. Boatman’s {a-Spades}{3-Spades} was good enough to win the pot as Wrang mucked.

Boatman Fires Three Bullets

Barny Boatman

We missed the preflop action but saw Hungarian player Balasz Botond check from the under the gun position on {4-Diamonds}{J-Spades}{Q-Clubs}.

Barny Boatman seized the opportunity and bet out 400. Botond made the call.

The {8-Diamonds} fell on the turn and again Botond checked. Boatman tossed in a single 500 chip and Botond made the call again.

Boatman had bet out small on the turn but he fired 2,000 on the {K-Diamonds} river. Boton didn't waste much time and quickly folded.

Boatman is still down for the day though, he's at about 27,000.

River Decision

Level 2 : 75/150, 0 ante

German PokerStars player Sebastian Pauli, in the big blind, three-bet opener Mateusz Zbikowski, a qualifier from the UK, to 1,450. Zbikowski made the call and up went the hood with the hands firmly clasped in front of his face, determined not to give anything away. The two players saw a flop of {10-Diamonds}{4-Hearts}{k-Spades}. Pauli bet 1,500 and got a call. The turn card was the {6-Clubs} which neither player bet at and when the river came the {j-Spades} they again both checked. Pauli showed {a-Clubs}{k-Hearts} and it was chopped when Zbikowski flipped over his {a-Spades}{k-Diamonds}. Pauli felt moved to say, “If you had bet it would have been a bad call.”

Taking the Bull by the Horns

Level 2 : 75/150, 0 ante
Robbie Bull
Robbie Bull

Robbie Bull, who won the UKIPT London last October for €113,405, opened for 400 from early position only to have Ilia Iliaguev three-bet to 1,100. Erol Gunenc came along from the small blind, Bull called the additional 700, and it was three-way action to the {4-Hearts}{k-Hearts}{9-Diamonds} flop.

Action checked to Iliaguev, he bet 2,500, and only Bull made the call. Both players then checked the {7-Clubs} turn and the {2-Diamonds} completed the board on the river. Bull took the bull by the horns and bet 7,000, and it did the trick as Iliaguev folded his hand.

Aido's Bluff Fails, Piper in Great Shape

Level 2 : 75/150, 0 ante
Michael Piper
Michael Piper

The flop showed {Q-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}{8-Hearts} and both blinds checked to Michael Piper who bet 725 and the player in the small blind called. Sergio Aido, seated in the big blind, check raised to 2,500 and Piper made the call. The small blind tanked for a bit and folded creating heads-up action on the turn.

The turn brought the {7-Diamonds} and Aido fired out another 4,800 into Piper who went into the tank for quite a while. The third place finisher of EPT San Remo 2010 ended up making the call and on the river the {Q-Diamonds} hit.

Aido stared into the distance for about a minute before checking, and Piper checked behind quickly. Aido shook his head and tabled {A-Spades}{10-Diamonds} and Piper took down the pot after showing {K-Hearts}{Q-Clubs}.

River Value For Danzer

George Danzer
George Danzer

From the hijack Maurice Schepp raised to 400 and Team PokerStars Pro George Danzer called from the big blind. The flop brought out {J-Hearts}{5-Spades}{5-Hearts} and Danzer check-called 500.

On the turn the {A-Spades} hit and this time Danzer check-called 600. The river completed the board with the {8-Spades} and once again Danzer checked. Schepp bet 2,300 and Danzer check-raised to 8,000.

Schepp tanked for quite a while facing this big raise, but eventually he reluctantly called. Danzer showed {J-Spades}{10-Spades} for a rivered flush and Schepp mucked his cards.

6 Way Action

Level 2 : 75/150, 0 ante

With one limper before him Jannick Wrang bumped it up to 500. This started a cascade of callers and we saw a flop 6 handed of {2-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}. Wrang bet 850 and was called by the button Andras Kovacs and the big blind Andreas Pitzl. Down to 3 players for the turn card {2-Spades} which was checked around and the river {7-Hearts} similarly saw a reluctance to bet. Amid much shrugging of shoulders Pitzl turned over his {9-Hearts}{9-Spades} and was awarded the pot.
