Nasty Turn Sends Wheeler Rolling

Level 10 : 1,500/3,000, 3,000 ante
Jason Wheeler
Jason Wheeler

Daniel Koloszar opened 2,500 under the gun, and Jason Wheeler three-bet 6,500 next to act. The action folded back around to Koloszar and he tossed in a call.

The dealer fanned a flop of Q99, and Koloszar checked to Wheeler as he continued for 5,000. Koloszar raised to 13,500 and Wheeler jammed for about 29,000. Koloszar wasted little time making the call and both hands were tossed on their backs.

Jason Wheeler: AA
Daniel Koloszar: AQ

Wheeler was in great shape until the Q fell on the turn, filling Koloszar to a full house. The J river was no help for Wheeler as he stood up from the table.

Beresford Catches Franco Speeding

Level 9 : 600/1,200, 1,200 ante

Conor Beresford raised 2,500 in the cutoff and Miguel Franco defended the big blind.

When the 886 flop hit the felt, Franco check-raised Beresford's continuation bet of 2,500 to 7,000. Beresford made the call.

The 3 fell on the turn, and Franco continued with a bet of 5,900. Beresford took a couple of seconds before tossing in a call.

When the K landed on the river, Franco announced all-in, pushing forward his stack of about 23,000. Beresford tanked for about 40 seconds before he sighed while dropping a stack of chips across the line.

Franco tabled 97 for a missed straight draw, and Beresford dragged the pot with QQ.

Schneiders Fails to Quadruple Up

Level 9 : Blinds 600/1,200, 1,200 ante
Felix Schneiders
Felix Schneiders

Yi Lin raised to 2,400 from under the gun and received a call from Emmanuel Wouters in the next seat over. Moonho Seo also came along from the button, but Felix Schneiders had different ideas and went all in for 9,200 from the big blind.

All of his opponents made the call, seeing an opportunity arise for the PokerStars Ambassador to quadruple his stack.

On the subsequent 475 flop, the action checked to Seo, who put out a bet of 15,500. Lin and Wouters folded in quick succession, leaving a heads up showdown.

Felix Schneiders: AK
Moonho Seo: 97

Seo had flopped the best hand with a pair of sevens, and improved to two pair on the 9 turn. The A river could not save Schneiders' Big Slick and he left the tournament area after saying his goodbyes to his former table.

Odani Secures Chip Lead With Monster Draw

Level 8 : Blinds 500/1,000, 1,000 ante
Takumi Odani
Takumi Odani

Takumi Odani kicked off the action with a raise to 2,000 from under the gun. Luc Ramos then called from the next seat over, as did Paul Covaciu in the cutoff.

Rene Keller then went all in for 10,000 from the button and Odani called before Ramos got out of the way. Covaciu also came along and a flop of 1086 was dealt.

Odani checked before calling a 9,500 bet from Covaciu. On the A turn, Odani checked once more before being faced with an all-in wager of 38,300 from his opponent. He thought it over for a minute or so but ultimately decided he could not fold and put in the call, leading to a three-way showdown.

Rene Keller: 76
Paul Covaciu: A10
Takumi Odani: J9

Covaciu was ahead with his two pair, but Odani had a plethora of outs with his straight and flush draws. Keller was still drawing live as well, but the Q river made Odani his straight, resulting in the elimination of both of his opponents.

By winning this pot, the Japanese player crossed the 200,000-mark and is chip-leading the field on Day 1a of the Eureka Main Event.

Novotny Rivers Double Knockout

Level 8 : Blinds 500/1,000, 1,000 ante
Petr Novotny
Petr Novotny

After some preflop action, Niculina Grasu went all in for her final 8,000 chips from the big blind and found no less than three callers in Safwane Bahri under the gun, Petr Novotny on the button, and Luca Moschitta in the small blind.

Moschitta then created a side pot when he bet 4,500 on the 959 flop. Bahri quickly folded but Novotny stuck around with a call.

On the Q turn, Moschitta checked to Novotny, who made a bet of 5,000 in response. Moschitta then jammed all in for 18,800 and a swift call followed from Novotny, after which all three players revealed their holdings.

Niculina Grasu: 55
Luca Moschitta: AA
Petr Novotny: QJ

Grasu flopped a full house and was looking to quadruple up, while Moschitta was a big favorite for the side pot. The Q river, however, saw Novotny hit one of his two outs to scoop the pot.

His higher full house awarded him with a big stack of almost six figures, while both Grasu and Moschitta left the tournament in a state of disbelief.
