EPT Prague Closing Out with Two-Day €10,200 No-Limit Hold'em

The 2023 PokerStars European Poker Tour Prague festival is winding down and will see €10,200 No-Limit Hold'em kicking off this evening at 7 p.m. local time.

Originally scheduled as a €25,000 high roller, this will now be the fourth €10,000 buy-in of the series. The two-day event is expected to draw a medium-sized field with the previous event reaching 240 entries. The field is expected to have some of the world's most accomplished poker players, including Steve O'Dwyer, Parker Talbot, Antoine Saout, Ramon Colillas, and Conor Beresford, all of whom have been active this stop.

Should he take a seat today, Hungarian online grinder Tamas Adamszki will be after his third high roller title of the series after taking down the earlier €10,200 and €50,000 events back-to-back for €117,150 and €394,670. He isn't the only grinder looking for multiple titles this stop as Oleg Vasylchenko took down €10,200 Mystery Bounty just a few days ago, earning €154,673.

Players will begin the tournament with a starting stack of 100,000 chips and blinds of 500/1,000/1,000 with levels lasting 30 minutes and 15-minute breaks at various intervals. The event features a shot clock from the start and each new entry will receive four time bank cards. They'll play ten levels tonight before survivors bag and tag their chips for Day 2, which begins at noon local time Sunday.

Late registration in this unlimited reentry event will remain open until tomorrow, at which point the prize pool and payouts will be determined. Approximately 15 percent of the field will be paid and the event will play down to a winner on Day 2 on December 17th.

O'Dwyer Involved In Four-Bet Pot

Motoyoshi Okamura made a min-raise of 2,000 from the cutoff before Steve O'Dywer made it 8,000 to go from the button. The blinds got out of the way before Okamura came over the top with a reraise to 17,500, which O'Dwyer called.

On the 2♦A♠9♦ flop, Okamura continued with a bet of 8,000. O'Dwyer spent little time before tossing his cards to the muck, surrendering the pot to Okamura.

Kobayashi and Shimizu Go For It All

Hirokazu Kobayashi raised to 2,500 as the first to act and Nozomu Shimizu put in a three-bet to 10,000 from the hijack.

The action folded back to Kobayashi, who quickly shoved, covering the stack of his fellow Japanese player.

A small sigh escaped from Shimizu before he put in a call for his tournament life.

The flop remained clean for Kobayashi's eights, but the K♦ turn saw Shimizu hit the better pair. Kobayashi requested an eight, but the deck must have misheard as the A♠ came on the river instead.

Shimizu doubled up to one and a half starting stacks while Kobayashi dived a bit under one.

Kaukua Flops Top Pair

Steve O'Dwyer opened 2,500 in the cutoff, and Enrico Camosci and Toni Kaukua called in the blinds.

The dealer fanned a flop of 10♦5♥2♠ before Camosci led 2,500. Only Kaukua called.

The 5♦ fell on the turn, and Camosci check-called a bet of 8,000.

The 6♥ landed on the river, and both players checked. Camosci opened 7♥7♠. before tossing them into the muck as Kaukua showed 10♥9♥.

Gutierrez Left With Few Chips

Elias Gutierrez raised from the button and Hirokazu Kobayashi three-bet from the small blind. Gutierrez then four-bet jammed for 61,500, covering Kobayashi's stack. Kobayashi made the call, putting his tournament life at risk.

The 2♣K♠6♣ brought no trouble for Gutierrez, but the A♣ river saw Kobayashi hit one of his three direct outs. No jack came on the 6♥ river to save Gutierrez, and he headed towards the exit of the tournament area.

The tournament floor called Gutierrez back as he still had 11,000 chips left, and he retook his seat with a chance to spin up his small stack.

Okamura Avoids Complete Disaster in Cooler

Enrico Camosci opened 3,000 in the hijack, and Toni Kaukua called before Motoyoshi Okamura three-bet 11,000 on the button. Camosci folded, and Kaukua called.

The dealer fanned a flop of J♦J♣8♠, and Kaukua check-called a bet of 7,000.

The 3♦ turn was checked through to see the 2♣ river. Kaukua led for 50,000, and Okamura only took a few seconds to call.

Kaukua tabled A♦J♥, for trip jacks, ace-kicker, pipping Okamura's K♥J♠.

"Wow, you checked the turn," said tablemate Fahredin Mustafov.

O'Dwyer Exits

Toni Kaukua opened his button for 3,000 chips and Steve O'Dwyer three-bet to 13,500 from the big blind. Kaukua asked after his opponent's stack and made a call after he received an answer.

The flop of 4♠2♥8♠ saw O'Dywer continue for 14,000 chips and Kaukua called once more. The 8♣ was then turned and O'Dwyer slowed down with a check.

Kaukua slammed in a pile of chips, enough to put O'Dwyer all-in for his stack of 57,000. O'Dwyer weighed his options for a bit but made the call before his shot clock ran out.

Kaukua was in front with two pair, and improved to a full house on the 7♣ river to send O'Dwyer to the exit.

Painful Ace on the River for Kobayashi as he Exits the Tournament

Deividas Daubaris opened 3,000 before Hirokazu Kobayashi three-bet to 11,500. After thinking for a few moments, Daubaris announced all-in and Kobayashi wasted no time calling off his stack of 75,500.

Kobayashi was in great shape as the flop of 2♣2♠2♥ hit the felt and the 8♦ turn changed nothing, but the dreadful A♦ hit the river, giving Daubaris deuces full of aces to eliminate Kobayashi.

Nemeth Doubles Up in Bizarre Pot

Elias Gutierrez kicked off the action with a raise to 3,000 from the hijack. Daisuke Ogita then three-bet to 8,500 from the cutoff before Andras Nemeth made it 21,000 to go from the small blind.

Big blind Nozomu Shimizu tossed in some chips, thinking that Nemeth cold called the three-bet. The amount was not enough to be considered a five-bet, so it was ruled as a call. Gutierrez quickly got out of dodge, but Ogita put in the extra chips as well.

The three-way, four-bet pot went off to a flop of J♥4♥9♣. Nemeth checked and Shimizu put in a single T-25,000 chip for a bet. Ogita folded quickly, but Nemeth jammed all in for 87,500, followed by a quick call from his Japanese opponent.

Nemeth had a big lead with his top pair, and it held when the board ran out with the 9♠ turn and Q♣ river. He raked in a big double-up while Shimizu dived under the starting amount of 100,000 chips.
