Nguyen Comes Over the Top

John Juanda made a standard raise from the button, only for Scotty Nguyen to push all in from the big blind for around 100,000.

"Fan the pot," requested Juanda. "No, don't fan the pot," joked Nguyen.

Fan or no fan, Juanda made the fold and Nguyen survived.

Haxton Doubles Through Benyamine To Stay In the Game

Please please please no ace
Please please please no ace
Isaac Haxton, by far the keenest player to get his chips in the middle of the table so far today, shoved for maybe the third or fourth time in as many rounds, and picked up a call from David Benyamine.

Haxton, all in on the bubble: {3-Spades} {3-Diamonds}
Benyamine: {A-Clubs} {10-Hearts}

Flop: {J-Diamonds} {7-Diamonds} {K-Spades} -- Juanda: "David, would you prefer a queen or an ace?"

Turn: {5-Diamonds} -- Haxton, slumped down in his chair: "I like that one, it's a good card."

River: {J-Hearts}

Double up for Haxton and we remain 10-handed. TD to Haxton: "So, how does it feel to have everybody rooting against you in a hand?"

Haxton up to 200,000, Benyamine down to 190,000.

Peter Jetten Doubles Through John Juanda

Peter Jetten
Peter Jetten
With Scotty Nguyen raising to 18,000 from early position, John Juanda made it 36,000 two seats along only for Peter Jetten to move all in from the blind for around 170,000.

After Nguyen had folded his hand aggressively and with a frustrated shake of the head, the decision rested solely on Juanda. With all remaining players swamping the table and silently willing him to call, Juanda slid a column of brown chips across the felt and revealed {Q-Hearts}{Q-Clubs}. Jetten tabled {A-Clubs}{A-Hearts}.

No drama on the {4-Spades}{J-Spades}{3-Spades}{5-Diamonds}{9-Spades} board, apart from Nguyen claiming he had folded pocket jacks and would have played back at Juanda, and the young Canadian doubled through.

10 remain.

Dennis Phillips Eliminated On the Bubble

No final table today
No final table today
While Isabelle Mercier shoves all in on the other table and gets no callers, Dennis Phillips is not so lucky. He moves all in for 56,000, only for Isaac Haxton to re-shove behind him. On their backs for the bubble, while a throng of media appears from nowhere around the table.

Phillips: {Q-Spades} {9-Spades}
Haxton: {A-Spades} {4-Hearts}

Board: {8-Hearts} {8-Clubs} {K-Spades} {6-Diamonds} {7-Clubs}

Thus Phillips goes home empty-handed today. Says Peter Jetten, "Hey, good run, dude." "Not really," sighs Phillips. Still, he may not have made the money today, but at least he still has a certain Final Table to look forward to come November...

A Lack of Eclecticism

Today's final table is rather less eclectic than other events with four finalists representing good ol' Uncle Sam. One behind is Canada with three players, whilst Japan and France also have players flying their respective flags.

Sadly for the locals, we're once again lacking a Union Jack. Bah! One day we'll get good at this game and then you'll all be in trouble.
