Piechaczyk Gets There

Level 16 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante

The board read {7-Spades}{10-Clubs}{Q-Hearts}{4-Clubs} when we found Olivier Piechaczyk and Jouny Hanna heads up in the hand. Piechaczyk checked the turn and Hanna took this chance to move 39,000 past the betting line. Piechaczyk thought for about 30 seconds before placing out calling chips.

The river paired the board with the {7-Hearts} and Piechaczyk checked once more. Hanna instantly checked the action back. Piechaczyk threw {K-Clubs}{7-Clubs} on the table for trip sevens, prompting Hanna to slam his hand down on the table. He flung his cards at the muck and watch on as the pot was pushed to Piechaczyk.

With this victory, Piechaczyk is now at 400,000 in chips.

Nikita Nikolaev Hits the Rail

Level 16 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante

Andrius Bielskis opened from middle position and Nikita Nikolaev shoved all in for 71,000 from the button. Both blinds folded and Bielskis asked for a count before calling with {A-Spades}{K-Clubs}. Nikolaev showed {A-Hearts}{10-Spades} and would make no connection with the board at any point: {2-Spades}{7-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}{4-Hearts}{5-Clubs}. Down to 107 players, 20 from the money.

Kapalas Busts Vöhrs and Castaignon

Level 16 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante
Remi Castaignon
Remi Castaignon

Remi Castaignon opened to 9,000 and Georgios Kapalas three-bet to 22,000 before Sören Ingwart Vöhrs four-bet shoved for 69,000. The former EPT Deauville champion Castaignon now five-bet shoved for 160,000 with pocket kings and Kapalas had an easy call with the only hand in No Limit Hold'em that had the Frenchman crushed: Pocket Aces. Vöhrs was doomed with jacks and neither player hit anything on the board to send the chips to Kapalas.

Carey Runs Jacks Into Top Set

Level 16 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante

Dany Parlafes has just eliminated Owain Carey. The latter ran his {J-}{J-} into Parlafes' {9-Hearts}{9-Spades} on a board of {3-Hearts}{2-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}{6-Spades}{Q-Hearts}. Parlafes apparently checked back the flop with top set, but Carey was convinced he would have lost the pot even if Parlafes hadn't played it the way he did. Parlafes is up a lot for the day, he's nearing 350,000 in chips.

"Good game guys, see you later" said a friendly Carey as he made his way to the exit.

Bubble Day Table Dynamics

Level 16 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante

With the bubble fast approaching and tables breaking, Rob Strong arrived at his new table and had a few things to say on how action should play out. Stalling was fine and they should only be playing good pairs and ace-ten at the worst. That way if someone raises they know they have it and everyone can fold. Everyone agreed and laughed along. Strong was on the button and the cut-off folded saying, “Ok ace-nine, I fold.” Strong folded and action was on small blind Jerome Zerbib.

Zerbib completed and big blind Rasmus Vogt declared all in for 80,000. Zerbib took quite some time to think about it before folding and showing the {a-Spades}.

Vogt raised his eyebrows and asked what his kicker was. Zerbib indicated he had {a-Spades}{6-}.

“Easy fold.” Strong said. “Not easy fold.” Was Zerbib’s opinion on the matter.

Darcourt Doubles Cybulski

Level 16 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante

Guillaume Darcourt opened for 8,500 and called Tomasz Cybulski's 99,000 shove right behind him. Darcourt had {A-Clubs}{K-Clubs} and was flipping against Cybulski's {10-Hearts}{10-Clubs}.

Darcourt would hit the flop, but Cybulski hit harder: {J-Diamonds}{A-Hearts}{10-Spades}. The {4-Spades} on the turn didn't do much of anything for Darcourt, the {6-Hearts} on the river was a blank as well.

Two checks prompted a showdown and Sekularac showed a winning {A-Diamonds}{6-Spades}. Horecki mucked his cards and his stack decreased to 145,000.
