There's More to Life Than the Main Event

Level 1 : 50/100, 0 ante

Besides the Main Event Day 1b, there's a whole lot more going on in the Portomaso Casino at the moment. At 11:00 this morning the penultimate satellite for the Main Event started with a €550 buy-in and the option to rebuy/add-on. That's downstairs in the back of the room. We just saw Mateusz Moolhuizen, who cashed no less than five times in the EPT Vienna event last year, giving it a try in that event.

Also, in that very same room, is a €5,000 rebuy tournament. Just 12 players registered for that event. Amongst those players are Timothy Adams and Sam Greenwood. No players have busted or re bought in that event yet, its underway just fifteen minutes now.

At 4 p.m. local time the last satellite for the Main Event starts, and at 8 p.m. a €2,000 turbo begins that will finish the same day.

Four-Way Action on Table 19

Level 2 : 75/150, 0 ante

Gereon Sowa raised to 300 just before the end of level 1 and received three callers in Jan Bendik, Fabio Sperling as well as Emil Patel in the big blind. On a flop of {6-Clubs} {7-Hearts} {K-Clubs}, Patel led for 900 and was called by Sowa before Bendik raised to 2,500. Sperling folded and the three of them headed to the {2-Hearts} turn.

This time the action was checked to Bendik, who bet 5,800. Only Patel called and then checked the {A-Spades} river once again. Bendik wasted little time before tossing in a bet of 11,000 and Patel tanked for a mere three minutes. Time was called on him and he eventually mucked.

Nitsche Back at It

Level 1 : 50/100, 0 ante

Dominik Nitsche is back in the hunt for glory today after a successful, but ultimately disappointing, day yesterday.

The three-time WSOP Bracelet winner led the €2k IPT High Roller for most of the day and held the lofty position as the final table started. It wasn't to be though for Nitsche; he lost his chip lead and had kings beaten by ace-ten to get back to the summit. He eventually finished fourth for €63,000 so stills lots to be cheery about.

Mandic Has a Nice Table

Level 2 : 75/150, 0 ante

The table of Goran Mandic features EPT 11 Deauville champion Ognyan Dimov, Dermot Blain and Govert Metaal. The latter just limped from the small blind and Mandic raised to 500, which was called by the Dutchman. On the {A-Clubs} {J-Spades} {2-Clubs} flop, both players checked and Metaal then won the pot with a bet of 850 on the {K-Spades} turn.

Chati and Katchalov Get Bluffed

Level 2 : 75/150, 0 ante

Joining the action on the {2-Hearts} {10-Diamonds} {6-Clubs} flop, an Italian in seat 1 as well as Farid Chati and Eugene Katchalov out of the blinds invested 1,800 chips after the Italian had made a continuation bet. The {10-Clubs} turn was checked through and the action was checked to the Italian on the {4-Diamonds} river, triggering a bet of 4,000.

Both Chati and Katchalov folded and then proudly got shown {K-Spades} {J-Clubs} for a successful bluff.

Teichert Among Early Casualties

Level 2 : 75/150, 0 ante

In the secondary tournament area downstairs, Nikolaus Teichert experienced yet another bad beat story and then informed the German colleagues. Teichert had raised to 300 on the button and Nandor Solyom three-bet to 800, calling a four-bet of his opponent to 3,500.

On a flop of {8-} {9-} {3-} rainbow, Solyom check-raised from 4,500 to 9,000 and was called by Teichert before the {8-} fell on the turn. The Romanian continued for 9,000 and received a call before the remaining less than 7,000 chips went in after a {10-} river. Solyom showed {8-} {9-} for a full house and Teichert's pocket aces were cracked.

A Little One For Weenink

Level 2 : 75/150, 0 ante

Hiroaki Harada just raised to 300 before the flop and Jochum Weenink called in position from the button. The flop came down {K-Spades}{3-Hearts}{3-Spades} and Harada bet 525, Weenink called.

The turn was the {K-Diamonds} and this time both players checked. On the river the {8-Clubs} hit and the action was checked again. Harada showed {J-Spades}{9-Spades} and mucked when the Dutchman tabled {A-Clubs}{Q-Spades}.

Weenink sits on 31,000 right now after picking up a tiny pot in the second level of the day.

Nuutinen Hits His Flush

Level 2 : 75/150, 0 ante

On a board of {6-Diamonds}{J-Diamonds}{7-Spades}{8-Hearts} we saw Jorma Nuutinen bet out 800 from the big blind. He received two calls; a player in middle position and the player in the cutoff made the call.

The river came the {A-Diamonds} and Nuutinen now bet 2,000 by tossing in two red 1,000 chips. The player in middle position called, the cutoff folded.

Nuutinen showed {K-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds} and his opponent mucked.
