Joshua Turner Eliminated in 18th Place ($3,213)

Level 20 : 5,000/10,000, 1,000 ante
Joshua Turner
Joshua Turner

Joshua Turner, who came into the day as the chipleader has been eliminated. After doubling up Peter Brooks twice, he was able to weather the storm and keep one of the bigger stacks, until now.

He opened to 28,000 and Robert Keeling reraised to 75,000. Turner called and the flop came {k-Clubs}{4-Diamonds}{6-Hearts} and Turner checked to Keeling. Keeling shoved all in for 241,000 and Turner snap called.

Turner had top pair with {k-Diamonds}{7-Spades}, but Keeling had {a-Spades}{a-Hearts} and would stay ahead. He had Turner covered and that spelled the end of his day.

Michael Kamenjarin Eliminates Leonard Scruggs

David Kim and Leonard Scruggs have been eliminated in 20th and 19th place. Both will receive a prize of $2,827.

Scruggs called all in for his tournament life against the open shove of Michael Kamenjarin. Kamenjarin had {a-}{9-} against the {a-Clubs}{7-Clubs} of Scruggs. Neither player paired and the board stayed low enough for Kamenjarin's {9-} to play. He won the pot and eliminated Scruggs.

Two Rivers, Two Doubles and a Knockout

Level 18 : 3,000/6,000, 500 ante
Paul Fehlig
Paul Fehlig

Paul Fehlig had been the shortest stack, once Phil Youngclaus busted. In back-to-back hands he doubled up, then basically doubled again when he knocked out Eric Nagel.

On the first hand, Fehlig made a flush on the river with {j-Hearts}{4-Hearts}, coming from behind to double against Anthony Keefe.

On the very next hand, Fehlig, who now had chips to work with, opened to 12,000 and Nagel shoved for about 100,000.

Fehlig called with {a-Diamonds}{k-Diamonds} and Nagel had {k-}{k-}. The board ran out {6-Spades}{9-Hearts}{j-Hearts}{8-Hearts}{a-Spades}, and again the river gave Fehlig the win and eliminated Nagel.

"That's two of the sickest beats I think I have ever put on anyone," said Fehlig as he stacked his chips. He is not sitting at almost 250,000 and more than 40 big blinds, up from ten.

A few hands later, Keefe was done as well. Keefe was eliminated in 23rd place.

Is That All Pete?

Level 18 : 3,000/6,000, 500 ante
Peter Brooks
Peter Brooks

Peter Brooks and Joshua Turner just got all in for a 200,000 pot.

The action started when Bill Haner opened to 22,000 and Turner reraised to 78,000. Brooks was in the big blind and went all in for 107,500. Haner folded and Turner called showing {a-}{j-}.

"I have three outs, you have kings?" he asked Brooks.

Brooks turned over {q-Hearts}{q-Spades} and was ahead. After Brooks smashed the {q-Clubs}{q-Diamonds}{10-Hearts} flop, there was nothing left to do but pass the chips. Turner is still sitting just under 50 big blinds, so while it hurts, he is still going strong. He has also shown an ability to slowly build his chip stack back up several times.

When the flop came out, Paul Fehlig walked over from another table and took a look at the four queens.

"Is that all Pete?" he asked, as the table chuckled and Brooks collected the pot.

Kim Doubles Through Baumer

Level 18 : 3,000/6,000, 500 ante
David Kim
David Kim

David Kim has gotten several all in shoves through over the last few levels. Just a few hands ago, he shoved all in against two players. Both players folded, Don Baumer was one of those players.

This time Baumer was in the small blind and Kim shoved from early position. Baumer called with {6-}{6-} against the {k-}{q-} of Kim.

The flop came two kings on the {k-Diamonds}{k-Hearts}{a-Clubs} board, and the turn and river completed the board with {2-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}.

"That's the first flip I've ever won in my life," said Kim as the dealer slid the pot to him.

It's the Bubble for Gerding

Level 17 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante
Bill Gerding Bursts the Bubble
Bill Gerding Bursts the Bubble

Bill Gerding is officially the bubble in the HPO St. Louis Main Event. He got his last 28,000 in and Bruce Mead called from the big blind.

When the players were allowed to show their hands, Gerding was in the lead with {a-Hearts}{q-Diamonds} against the {a-Spades}{4-Spades} of Mead.

The board ran out {9-Spades}{8-Clubs}{6-Clubs}{k-Spades}{2-Spades}, which looked promising for Gerding until the board went runner-runner flush and put him out in 28th place.

The remaining players are guaranteed at least $2,827.
