Madison Wins Consecutive Hands

Level 15 : 2,000/4,000, 4,000 ante

Bryant Madison was heads up with Caleb King on the flop that read {j-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}{5-Hearts}. Madison bet 13,000 and King called. The turn was the {2-Spades}. Both players checked.

The river was the {q-Spades}. Madison bet 12,000 and King called again. Madison turned over {j-Spades}{k-Hearts} which King could not beat and Madison pulled in the pot.
--
The very next hand with the board reading {q-Diamonds}{j-Spades}{k-Hearts}{a-Spades}{q-Spades}, Madison was contemplating whether to call his opponent's 25,000 river bet. After a few moments he made the call and showed the winning hand with {q-Hearts}{8-Hearts}.

These two hands helped Madison boost his stack to a formidable size.

Friedman Continues to Roll with Fossilman Elimination

Level 15 : 2,000/4,000, 4,000 ante
Greg Raymer
Greg Raymer

Two World Series of Poker bracelet winners just collided and only one survived.

Chip leader Adam Friedman raised to 10,000 from early position and 2004 WSOP Main Event champ and four-time 2012 HPT winner Greg Raymer three-bet jammed for 80,300 from the small blind. Friedman thought for a bit and then dropped in some calling chips.

Friedman: {8-Diamonds}{8-Spades}
Raymer: {a-Spades}{q-Diamonds}

It was a flip but Raymer needed to improve to stay alive. Unfortunately for him, that proved easier said than done as the board ran out {j-Spades}{j-Diamonds}{3-Clubs}{10-Hearts}{2-Spades} to give Friedman a winning two pair.

As is his custom, Raymer signed a fossil and sent it over to the man who eliminated him.

King Eliminates Williams

Level 15 : 2,000/4,000, 4,000 ante
Caleb King
Caleb King

Riding a short stack Lavann Williams shoved all in for his remaining 33,900. Caleb King thought for a moment before making the call.

Williams showed {j-Spades}{7-Spades} which was up against the {a-Clubs}{5-Diamonds} of King. The board ran out {k-Diamonds}{q-Hearts}{j-Clubs}{a-Spades}{6-Clubs} giving the pot to King on the turn and eliminating Williams.

Adam Friedman Bags Monster Lead Among 20 Day 1b Survivors

Level 15 : 2,000/4,000, 4,000 ante
Adam Friedman
Adam Friedman

On the Heartland Poker Tour’s first-ever visit to Hollywood Casino Columbus, 157 runners took part in the second of three flights in the $1,650 HPT Main Event. Along with 103 from Day 1a it brought the field to 260 entries so far with Day 1c still remaining. After 15 levels of play on Day 1b, just 20 remained with Adam Friedman and his stack of 807,000 leading the pack.

Friedman is a very well known poker player with over $2.5 million in live cashes including an HPT title and WSOP bracelet. He’s been tough all day building a monster chip lead, including getting involved in a hand with Greg Raymer. The 2004 WSOP champ got his chips in the last level of the night holding ace-jack against Friedman’s pocket eights. The snowman held and Raymer hit the rail.

In another hand Friedman held pocket kings and cracked the aces of Anthony Carbone for a 240,000 pot.

Others to advance to Sunday’s Day 2 were Stephen Song (307,500), Craig Casino (448,000) , Caleb King (191,000) and Mike Morgan (340,000).

Some players to play 1b but fail to advance were Iverson Snuffer, Adam Asbury, Josh Stephens, Ronald Bell and Jeffrey Hart.

Day 1c will take place at Noon on Saturday followed by Day 2 on Sunday at 11:00 am. The PokerNews Live Reporting Team will be on hand to capture all the action, so be sure to tune in all weekend for all the HPT action you can handle.
