Ross Boatman Tangles with Richard Trigg

Level 8 : 500/1,000, 100 ante

Having defended his small blind to a raise, Ross Boatman was facing a bet of 4,000 from Richard Trigg on a flop of {3-Diamonds} {J-Clubs} {K-Spades} Ross elects to call.

The turn is the 8s. Ross checks it over to Trigg who continues the aggression with another bet of 4,000. Ross soon puts him to the test by check raising him to 10,000.

Trigg goes in the tank. He swivels in his chair and reaches for a sip of coffee, trying to piece together the puzzle. Finally he shakes his head and folds, fearing he may have been out-played. He says something but Ross can’t hear what it was.

“Huh?” Says Ross. Guessing what Trigg is asking he tells him, “The turn made my hand massive.”

A couple of hands later Ross, Trigg and another player in seat 4 see a flop of {10-Diamonds} {6-Hearts} {7-Diamonds}

Trigg checks, seat 4 checks and Ross makes it 4,000 from the button.

This time Trigg puts in the check raise for 11,000. Seat 4 quickly gets out of the way.

Is Ross now the one being out played? Is this a revenge check raise?

Ross gives it a bit more thought and finally folds.

Another player pipes up, “OK boys, that’ll do.”

Ross Boatman is currently on 120,000.

Sleepy Trickett's Check-Raise Gets the Job Done

Level 8 : 500/1,000, 100 ante

Sam Trickett is looking sleepy over at the far end of the tournament area, as you would had you stayed up playing cash games at the Palm Beach until 05:00 this morning. Despite his obvious tiredness, Trickett has managed to maintain his trademark aggression.

Joining the action on a {5-Clubs}[7s{2-Clubs}{9-Spades} board, Trickett checked from the small blind and Gilles Haddad checked in the big blind. Herve Santais was in the hijack and he bet 9,500. Trickett sat considering all of his options for the best part of 60-seconds before settling on a check-raise to 29,000. It turned out to be the best choice because both active players almost instantly folded.

Eastgate Eliminated

Level 8 : 500/1,000, 100 ante

Peter Eastgate, the former World Series of Poker Main Event winner, has been eliminated after getting his money good.

All the chips went flying into the middle on a {K-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}{J-Clubs}{7-Clubs} with Eastgate holding {Q-}{10-} for a flopped straight and his opponent holding the {K-Clubs}{Q-Clubs}. The river was the {3-Clubs}, completing Eastgate's opponent's flush, sending the disappointed Dane to the rail.

Jamie Burland Doubles Up

Level 9 : 600/1,200, 200 ante

The big stack at the table raised to 2,500 from the cut-off and it folds to Jamie Burland, in the big blind, who considers his options with a stack of around 85,000. He chooses to 3-bet to 5,700.

Big stack gives him a stare. The pressure is back on with a 4-bet to 17,000.

Burland takes his time, not looking at his opponent, just separating his chips into various sizes, weighing up the consequences. This is the last level of the night.

A minute ticks by and a stack of chips are now in his hand, decision made, a 5-bet to 27,300.

His opponent immediately 6-bets enough to put Burland all in and is answered with a quick call.

They flip the cards over and Burland is ahead with {A-Spades} {A-Diamonds} versus {Q-Hearts} {Q-Clubs}

The board runs out an inconsequential {6-Spades} {J-Hearts} {8-Spades} {J-Spades} {7-Clubs}

Burland has a nice stack to bring back for day 3.

Tureniec Terminated

Level 9 : 600/1,200, 200 ante

Swedish pro and former European Poker Tour champion Michael Tureneic is no longer in the field, his seat has been filled by a certain Matt Dale. Should Tureniec not buy back in tomorrow I will eat my hat. Actually, I will buy a hat and then eat it.

Lewis Loses Most of His Stack

Level 9 : 600/1,200, 200 ante

Toby Lewis has just been on the wrong side of an aces versus kings scenario and doesn't have many chips at his disposal.

Lewis held {K-Hearts}{K-Spades} and was all-in on the {5-Spades}{9-Spades}{8-Clubs} flop against his opponent's {A-Spades}{A-Clubs} with the board running out {J-Diamonds} and {7-Spades}/

Watch out for Lewis punting off his last few chips so he can re-enter on Saturday.

Launais Hits the Peak

Level 9 : 600/1,200, 200 ante

After a limper came in for 1,200, Ben Jenkins moved all in for about 26,000 preflop. Sylvain Solfrini then flat-called the all in before Bruno Launais over-called. AFter the limper folded, the two players proceeded to check down a board of {A-Hearts}{A-Clubs}{K-Clubs}{K-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}.

Jenkins showed {8-Spades}{8-Hearts} knowing he was eliminated but he'll be back tomorrow, Solfrini had him pipped with nines but Launais turned over {J-Hearts}{J-Spades} to scoop the pot with jack-high. Frenchman Launais looks to be among the chip leaders now.
