Hot Runs The Hottest on Day 1b of the Big Wrap in Rozvadov

Level 12 : 1,500/3,000, 0 ante
Besim Hot topped Day 1b
Besim Hot topped Day 1b

The second starting day of 2019 The Big Wrap has wrapped up in Europe's biggest poker arena at the King's Casino and Resort in Rozvadov. As expected, a bigger field emerged in the popular casino venue near the border to Germany with a guaranteed prize pool of €1,000,000 luring in players from near and far for the €2,350 Pot-Limit Omaha Main Event.

After 128 entries on Day 1a the previous day, that number was almost doubled thanks to 221 entries including 165 unique players and 56 re-entries. Along with the 20 entries in the online Day 1 on partypoker, the current field size stands at 369 entries and at least 155 players will return to their seats as of 2 p.m. local time when the action resumes at blinds of 2,000/4,000.

After 12 levels of 40 minutes each, it was a familiar name of the European poker scene that emerged at the top of the leaderboard as Besim Hot beat Veton Raka for the top spot with a stack of 720,000. Raka follows close behind with 702,000, the top five also include Shahin Dezfoulli (576,000), Simone Fumagalli (573,000) and Katerminka (558,000). It was no smooth sailing for Hot all the way, as he quickly lost the stack on the first bullet before a late surge propelled him into the lead.

Only the top five bagged up more than half a million in chips, but plenty of notables made it through to Day 2 such as Sameer Khurana (430,000), Paresh Doshi (385,000), Maksim Shuts (380,000), Maksim Pisarenko (310,000), Tomasz Kozub (277,000), Jan-Peter Jachtmann (237,000), Marek Blasko (230,000) and partypoker ambassador Bertrand "ElkY" Grospellier (144,000).

Among those that required more than one shot at running up a stack and succeeding were also WSOPE PLO bracelet winner Lukas Zaskodny (244,000), Jonas Kronwitter (203,000), Alexander Norden (173,000), Gisle Olsen (164,000) and Hokyiu Lee (85,000).

Less fortunate were Andrej Desset, Mick Heder, Marek Tatar, Karel Kovarik, Alexandre Viard, Jesper Hougaard, and Petr Targa to name just a few of those that came and left without anything to show for just yet. With two levels of late registration remaining on Day 2, some of them may, however, be back in action after a good night's sleep.

Ulrich Pauls rivered a full house with jacks only to find himself up against flopped quads to bust on his first of three bullets throughout the day. Maximilian Klostermeier was caught bluffing towards the end of the night when Dorel Eldabach hero-called with aces on the river of a paired queen-high board.

Simone Fumagalli
Simone Fumagalli

Especially after the dinner break, the pace of all-in showdowns and re-entries never slowed down. Simone Fumagalli tripled up in a three-way all in when he turned the nut straight with a flush draw and held up against top set and top pair as well as the nut flush draw. Soon after, it was Yordanov Karagogov that doubled to half a million in chips when his wrap got there against a set.

Towards the end of the night, the chips were flying left and right in an attempt to run up a decent stack for Day 2. It was no surprise that the rollercoaster ride cut the field into more than half and the 95 Day 1b survivors will join the 52 players that bagged up on Day 1a.

The Talk and Gisle Olsen bagged up twice and will carry over their bigger stack while another nine online qualifiers join the action as of Day 2, along with at least 15 satellite winners. Be sure to tune back in for more PLO spectacle from Rozvadov as the penultimate day will see the money bubble burst with the PokerNews team on the floor to provide all the action.

Antonin Felfel
Antonin Felfel

Just before the blinds went up, a four-way pot emerged to the {k-Hearts}{j-Diamonds}{8-Hearts} flop and Pavel Novotny bet 15,000, which GOMETZGER called. Antonin Felfel raised the pot to 85,000 and Borritoo on the button tanked for a long time before the clock was called on him. He then folded, Novotny jammed and GOMETZGER folded while Felfel came along with a near-identical stack.

Antonin Felfel: {a-Hearts}{j-Hearts}{10-Spades}{3-Spades}
Pavel Novotny: {k-Spades}{k-Clubs}{7-Clubs}{3-Hearts}

The {6-Diamonds} turn and {7-Diamonds} river were blanks and the stacks were counted, Novotny had 165,500 and that covered Felfel.

Umberto Vitagliano

On a {q-Clubs}{j-Diamonds}{9-Clubs} flop, Andrej Imrich reraised the pot to 85,000 and Umberto Vitagliano made the call with around 80,000 behind.

"You just called?" Imrich inquired and Vitagliano replied "yes, I like to make you sweat."

The {3-Hearts} fell on the turn and Imrich moved all in, Vitagliano called instantly.

Andrej Imrich: {a-Clubs}{k-Clubs}{q-Spades}{6-Spades}
Umberto Vitagliano: {a-Diamonds}{k-Hearts}{10-Spades}{10-Hearts}

The {j-Hearts} on the river failed to improve Imrich and he joined the rail.

Yordanov Karagogov
Yordanov Karagogov

On a flop of {q-Spades}{9-Clubs}{7-Spades}, Yizhaq Hay check-raised and Yordanov Karagogov called to see the {4-Hearts} turn on which Hay bet the pot for 90,000. Karagogov called and the {10-Spades} on the river slowed down Hay, who checked. Karagogov moved all in and Hay gave it just short consideration before making the call.

Karagogov turned over {j-Spades}{10-Clubs}{8-Spades}{3-Clubs} for a wrap that had gotten there and he doubled for 116,700, as Hay only had {k-Diamonds}{q-Diamonds}{q-Clubs}{6-Clubs} for a set of queens.

Karras and Schedlberger Cash Again

Level 3 : 200/400, 0 ante
Karl Schedlberger
Karl Schedlberger

After their previous tangle in a smaller pot, Karl Schedlberger and Athanasios Karras met once again and this time by far more chips went into the middle.

The completed board showed {j-Clubs}{6-Spades}{6-Hearts}{a-Hearts}{10-Spades} and Karras check-raised from 25,000 to 50,000. Schedlinger quickly pushed all in and that stunned Karras. "Do you have quads?" he asked and got no immediate answer.

Eventually, Schedlberger joined the conversation and asked his opponent whether or not he had ace-ten or ace-jack. Karras took another half a minute of consideration and folded.
