Thompson Eliminated

Aaron Thompson is our latest bustee. As related by Barny Boatman just after the event, Thompson raised to 300 in early position and got three or four callers to see a {K-?} {J-?} {10-?} flop with two spades on it. Following a brief raising war, he ended up all in against one opponent. Thompson's {5-Spades} {6-Spades} was not in terrible shape against his opponent's {A-Spades} {Q-?}, but a couple of bricks later and he hit the rail.

Ali Vs. Tilly

Jennifer Tilly bet 1,000 on the turn of a {5-Hearts} {4-Spades} {9-Clubs} {K-Clubs} board and Ali Mallu swiftly called. Both players checked the {7-Spades} river though, and Mallu quietly mucked when Tilly turned over {Q-Diamonds} {9-Diamonds} to take the pot.

Vanchiro Vanquishes Morkan

A very unhappy Christy Morkan is down to mere shrapnel after a nasty set-over-set encounter against Jeffrey Vanchiro.

The chips went in on the {4-?} {9-?} {5-?} flop, and when they came out again they headed over to Vanchiro.

Morkan: {4-?} {4-?}
Vanchiro: {5-?} {5-?}

Turn: {3-Clubs}
River: {A-Clubs}

Vanchiro vanquished and enjoyed a full double up; Morkan meanwhile was down to a rather sad 500 chips or so.

Jamie Gold Half Irish

Jamie Gold, in his element
Jamie Gold, in his element
Fintan Gavin has drawn Jamie Gold and Dan Carter as tablemates and the garrulous Irishman extraordinaire is giving Gold a chat-run for his money. It's all good natured, getting-to-know-you stuff at the moment though:

"So, is this your first time in Ireland?"
"Yes."
"Liking it?"
"Loving it. The people are so friendly."
"See, I thought that was the problem with Ireland. The people."
"You should try London..."

There follows a mini Gold lifestory, involving Irish grandparents, a change of name, a stepfather, and the revelation that Jamie is indeed half Irish.

Nelson's Columns Rise

A cheerful Ian Nelson has doubled up, getting his chips in with {3-Hearts} {3-Diamonds} against Richard Clarke's {A-Clubs} {Q-Clubs}.

Board: {3-Clubs} {8-Clubs} {10-Hearts} {A-Diamonds} {10-Spades}

"Nice comeback," commented tablemate Albert Iversen. It turns out that just two hands previously, Nelson had been a short stack and had now flopped two sets in a row. "I know, because the last one was against me, " sighed Kara Scott.

Miara-cle on Fifth Street

One big pot spilled over into the break, taking Emmett Farrell with it and giving an early big stack to Miara Davia. Threeway to a flop of {9-Spades} {A-Spades} {9-Diamonds}, Farrell checked and Davia bet 2,200. This got rid of the third player, but Farrell promptly moved all in for an additional 3,575. This brought on a lengthy dwell, followed by a surprisingly reluctant-looking call from Davia - with {Q-Clubs} {9-Clubs}! Farrell went from hopeful to resigned, flipping his {A-Clubs} {J-Hearts}.

The turn brought the {A-Hearts} and an "Ooh," from the spectators.

The river, however, came the case {9-Hearts} and a longer, "Oooh," as Farrell was eliminated.
