Tiffany Michelle Battling

Tiffany Michelle
Tiffany Michelle
Tiffany Michelle has been riding the short stack since the first level, dipping into the danger zone as she looked for a spot to get her chips in.

She found such a spot in a recent hand. The player under the gun limped in, and another player in middle position raised the bet to 600. Tiffany was a few seats down the line, and she moved all in for 1,950. The limper folded after a bit of deliberation, while the raiser made the call, putting Tiffany all in and at risk of elimination.

Michelle: {A-Spades} {K-Diamonds}
Opponent: {A-Clubs} {Q-Spades}

Tiffany was well ahead, and the {8-Diamonds} {7-Diamonds} {8-Clubs} flop kept her in the lead. The {K-Clubs} on the turn sealed the deal, sending her a much-needed double up. She now sits with 4,500 chips. Healthy, but not wealthy by any means.

Nobody Puts Baby in the Corner

Scotty Nguyen
Scotty Nguyen
A player in late position raised it up to 600 before Scotty Nguyen reraised to 1,800 from the big blind. The late position player responded by throwing in another 10,000 worth of chips. Scotty would've been all in if he called and he duly did with {K-?} {K-?} and was in good shape against his opponent's {J-?} {J-?}.

The board ran {5-?} {A-?} {Q-?} {7-?} {8-?} to double Nguyen up to 22,000.

The Magician and Mr. Furst

Antonio Esfandiari
Antonio Esfandiari
Antonio Esfandiari and Rafe Furst are seated at the same table, and they have been involved in a few pots together already. In their latest tangle, Esfandiari opened the action with a raise from the cutoff seat, making it 400 to play. Rafe Furst was in the big blind, and he reraised to 1,400. Esfandiari wasted no time calling, and the two men went to a heads-up flop.

It came down {Q-Clubs} {8-Spades} {4-Hearts}, and Furst led out with a continuation bet of 1,000. Esfandiari called.

Fourth street was the {2-Clubs}. Furst slowed down a little bit, checking over to Esfandiari, who checked behind.

The last card off the deck was the {7-Diamonds}. That was good enough for Furst to fire another 2,000 chips into the middle. Esfandiari thought for a minute, then nodded knowingly. He asked, "Two jacks huh, kid?" as he slipped his cards into the muck, sending a few chips over to his fellow pro.

Battling Like a Warrior

The turn had already been dealt and it gave us a board of {10-Diamonds} {5-Clubs} {9-Diamonds} {8-Spades}.

The pot was a six-way limp-fest and the passiveness continued as all players checked the flop. Mads Andersen put a stop to this after the turn had been dealt with a 1,300 bet, but this was instantly raised up to 4,075 by the player in the next seat.

Philippe Rouas was next to act and after a good deal of thought he moved all in. Andersen moved out of the way to let the other player make the call for most of his chips with {8-Diamonds} {9-Hearts}. He was behind to Rouas' {6-Clubs} {7-Clubs}.

The river of {Q-Hearts} changed nothing, enabling Rouas to get back up to his starting stack of 20,000.

Cassidy Gets Even

Joe Cassidy has just eliminated an opponent from the tournament after making a 1,500 bet on a board of {4-Clubs} {8-Clubs} {6-Spades} {2-Clubs} which put his opponent all in. His opponent reluctantly tossed his last 1,050 into the middle and turned over {A-Clubs} {7-Diamonds}, putting his tournament life on the line with flush and gutshot straight draws; Cassidy tabled the {6-Hearts} {4-Hearts} for two pair.

A red nine on the river was a safe card for Joe, who stacked up ~18,000 after the hand.

Rocket Boost

Davidi Kitai called a raise in the big blind from a player seated under the gun before the flop came down {6-Hearts} {6-Clubs} {J-Clubs}. Kitai then check-raised a 500 bet up to 1,500.

The call was made so the turn came {3-Spades}. This time Kitai led out for a 2,500 bet that his opponent called after a moment of thought.

The river brought a {4-Hearts} before Kitai made a final bet of 5,500. His opponent didn't seem to like it but he made the call anyway with {J-Spades} {9-Spades}. Kitai's {A-Clubs} {A-Diamonds} was good for the pot though and it sends him back in the right direction with 34,000.

Tournament Tidbits

Tiffany Michelle has been given a warning about standing up from her chair while in the middle of a hand.

Jean-Robert Bellande lost a floor decision when he opened up his hand, but did not intend to muck it. It crossed the betting line though, and was ruled dead.

Phil Ivey has still not made it to the Palm Beach Casino to take his seat.

It is still quite warm in the tournament room, and a lot of players are fanning themselves or leaving their seats between hands to stand near the small fans around the perimeter of the room.

Pascal Perrault has been eliminated from the field. Jean-Robert Bellande and David Williams still remain at his table though, sitting next to each other.

One of the other pro-laden tables in the room has just been broken, sending Noah Schwartz, Eric Mizrachi, and Theo Tran in opposite directions.
