Another Elimination

Facing an opening raise to 16,000, Frederic Lopez moved all in for about 20,000 more on top. His opponent called, tabling {A-Diamonds} {6-Diamonds}. Lopez was in good shape with {K-Clubs} {K-Diamonds}.

With the betting action complete, the dealer dealt out the board: {7-Clubs} {4-Spades} {Q-Clubs} {J-Hearts} {A-Spades}. Safe until the final card, Lopez let out a, "Pshhh" as he stood up and headed for the exit in 47th place.

Two Pros Tangle in a Big Pot

We peer in on a monstrous heads-up pot growing at the table nearest us. The board reads {Q-Diamonds} {8-Clubs} {8-Hearts} {7-Diamonds}, and on the turn there are already more than 200,000 chips in the middle of the table. [Removed:133] is first to act, and he checks. Robert Mizrachi is across the table, and he puts out a bet of 75,000.

Cournut goes deep into the tank for several minutes. He counts out the call plus a raise in front of him, then puts the raising chips back in his stack. He keeps the calling chips out though, shaking his head and gazing at the board. After what seems like an eternity, he mutters, "I might fold a big hand here..." as he continues his stay in the tank.

Finally, he does indeed fold his hand, asking, "Eight-nine, Robert?" He gets nothing but a slight grin from Mizrachi, who rakes in a big pile of chips, moving up close to the 600,000-chip mark.

An Ace when it Mattern's

There was a limp from late position before Arnaud Mattern moved all in for 70,000. To Mattern's surprise, his opponent called the extra 65,000 with {K-Clubs} {J-Clubs}. Arnaud tabled {A-Clubs} {4-Clubs}.

All the way to the river we go {9-Hearts} {4-Diamonds} {K-Spades} {8-Diamonds} {A-Hearts}.

He was out until the ace fell on the river to save his skin and double him up to 150,000.

An Ace, Bro

A player opens the action with a raise to 13,000 in early position. Looking down at {Q-Clubs} {Q-Hearts} on the button, Patrice Sitbon reraises to 40,000. Next to act is Patryk Hildebranski in the small blind, and he comes back over the top, moving all in for a total of 228,500. The original raiser folds. Sitbon asks for a full count, and as soon as he learns the number, he immediately makes the call. Hildebranski tables {A-Clubs} {Q-Diamonds}, and is in bad shape for his tournament life.

Patryk looks at the dealer and asks him, "You have an ace, bro?" Sure enough, the dealer obliges and spreads out {A-Diamonds} {2-Clubs} {2-Hearts} on the flop, pushing Hildbranski into the lead. Even better, fourth street is the {A-Spades}, locking up the pot and doubling the young player up to about 475,000. "Thank you, mister dealer," he says as he begins to re-stack his chips.

Sitbon, meanwhile, has taken two big hits in the last five minutes, and he has fallen back under the half-million mark.

It's Getting Hot in Here

It has been very warm in the tournament room since the event began, but today is taking that to another level. The air conditioning system in the casino has gone on the fritz overnight, pushing the temperatures up even higher than normal. On top of that, there is now an enormous lighting system in the middle of the room, generating a considerable amount of heat on its own. If we had to guess, it's probably between 80 and 85 degrees Fahrenheit in here right now.

The players seem to be right on the edge of comfort, fanning themselves with anything they can find and wiping the sweat off their brows. It remains to be seen if the less-than-ideal temperature affects play at all.

Case of the Missing Player?

Somehow, the player eliminated in 42nd position is currently unaccounted for. We missed his elimination hand and the Partouche staff does not have his name either. We've checked with the payout booth twice and they too are unsure of his name and whereabouts.

We'll pass on the name as soon as it's made available to us.

Niclas Dymling Eliminated in 41st Place ($15,693)

Niclas Dymling
Niclas Dymling
Niclas Dymling has just been knocked out of the tournament by chip leader Patrice Sitbon.

Short-stacked, Dymling moved all in over the top of a preflop raise made by Sitbon holding {K-Spades} {Q-Hearts}. Sitbon made the call and tabled {A-Hearts} {J-Hearts}.

The {A-Diamonds} appeared in the door and Dymling conceded defeat with a shrug of his shoulders and watched the rest of the board blank out {6-Spades} {8-Hearts} {5-Spades} {7-Clubs}. Dymling will take home $15,693 for his efforts.
