Team Poker Battle's Fate Falls on Mizrachi Brothers

With the recent eliminations of Patryk Hildebranski and Noah Schwartz, Michael and Robert Mizrachi are Poker Battle's last hope for a final table appearance -- pressure that the Mizrachi brothers surely welcome.

Currently, The Grinder is the shorter stacked of the two with about 150,000 in chips while Robert is currently in the top five with 770,000.

We'll keep you posted on their progress.

Grinder Avoids Trouble

In a three-way pot, the flop shows up {2-Spades} {4-Hearts} {K-Diamonds}. Michael Mizrachi is first to act in the small blind, and he leads out with 20,000 chips. The player next to act counts out a raise and makes it 55,000 total. The third man folds, and it's back to The Grinder.

He tanks for a few minutes, counting out his chips and shooting a glance across the table at his opponent. Finally, he does let his cards go, as he open-mucks {K-Hearts} {9-Hearts}. His opponent nods, pauses for a minute to consider, then shows up his {A-Clubs} {K-Spades} as he pulls in the pot.

Grinder does well to keep his foot out of the bear trap there, and he still has 190,000 chips to play with as a result.

Christophe Drahe Eliminated in 26th Place ($22,113)

Drahe sweats the turn
Drahe sweats the turn
Christophe Drahe just suffered a bad beat that he'll be tilting over for many weeks to come.

On a board showing {A-Hearts} {2-Hearts} {4-Diamonds}, Claudio Renaldi made a monster bet that put Drahe to a decision for all of his chips. After several minutes in the tank, Drahe made an impressive call holding just {A-Diamonds} {6-Diamonds}. He was ecstatic to see his opponent turn over {4-Spades} {5-Diamonds}, as he realized he was way ahead in the hand.

Unfortunately for Drahe, the {3-Hearts} that fell on the turn put an abrupt end to Drahe's celebration and left him drawing to one of the three remaining fives in the deck to win the pot, but none would come and he was eliminated from the tournament in 26th place.

Renaldi, meanwhile, climbed past the one million mark in chips and currently sits with about 1.1 million -- just 100,000 behind current chip leader Gus Hansen.

Aurlien Guiglini Eliminated in 25th Place ($22,113)

Aurlien Guiglini got all 150,000 of his chips in the middle preflop, holding {6-Clubs} {6-Spades}. He was at risk of elimination, but a slight favorite over the {A-Diamonds} {K-Clubs} of [Removed:133].

There was no love for Guiglini though. Right in the door came the {K-Hearts}, along with the {8-Clubs} and {3-Clubs}, vaulting Cournut into the lead, and leaving the all-in player looking for one of the two remaining sixes. No such luck though. The turn and river came {5-Hearts} and {3-Spades}, ending Cournut's day and tournament. He will pocket more than $22,000 for his work over the last three days.

The Return of Fabrice Nkoa

Fabrice Nkoa
Fabrice Nkoa
Fabrice Nkoa has just about had as rocky a day as you can have in a poker tournament, having fallen to 40,000 in chips from 660,000 and then climbing back up to 360,000 as recently as our last count. Fabrice loves to play pots, so expect this trend to continue as long as he's got chips in front of him.

Tough Luck

Two of the tournament's largest stacks belonging to Robert Mizrachi and Gus Hansen, are currently positioned right next to each other on one of the outer tables.

Gus has approximately 1.3 million in chips while Robert sits with about 890,000.

Hansen Put To a Decision

Prior to the flop, Gus Hansen kicks things off with a raise to 28,000. Action passes to Philippe Narboni, who makes the call, and the two men go heads up to the flop.

It rolls out {10-Spades} {7-Spades} {8-Spades}. Gus studies for several minutes before continuing out with 42,200 chips. Narboni also considers things for a little bit before moving all in for an additional 202,600. Gus appears frustrated, letting out a, "Jesus Christ... what did I do?" as he ponders the situation. He shoots a quick glance over at his opponent, then spends several minutes just staring down at his chips shaking his head. Finally, he knocks the table and lets it go, sending more than 70,000 of his chips to the other side of the felt. After the hand, he is still right around the 1,000,000 mark, while Narboni has climbed up to 300,000 himself.
