Spiked Out on the River

Level 34 : 200,000/400,000, 40,000 ante
Adam Hilton wakes up with aces
Adam Hilton wakes up with aces

Dusk Till Dawn regular Adam Hilton opened this one from under the gun to 625,000, with action folding to David Cohen in the cutoff who shoved for his remaining 4,100,000. The blinds got out of the way, before Hilton immediately shovelled his stack of pink 500k-value chips over the line and tabled {a-Diamonds}{a-Hearts}. Cohen whinced and rolled over his {7-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}, his fate now in the hands of Max the dealer.

As the flop was turned over, the {7-Spades} showed up in the window, along with the {8-Diamonds} and {8-Clubs} to give Cohen the miracle he needed.

"Ace!" pleaded Hilton, as the {3-Clubs} rolled off on the turn. "ACE!" he repeated, this time with the {a-Spades} showing up on the river.

That was David Cohen's last hand, as he finished 24th for £4,500 and a £2,200 UKPC seat.

Charlie Godwin eliminated in 23rd place (£4,500)

Charlie Godwin grinded for her tournament life on Day 3 of the Grand Prix UK Main Event, but it was not to be

Charlie Godwin has just been eliminated in 23rd place after a horrible run-out effectively ended her hopes.
The key blow to Godwin’s stack took place during a blind on blind confrontation with Ronan Sweeney when Godwin set her opponent all in, after the action folded to her in the small blind.

After some thought Sweeney called off his remaining 3.7m chips holding {A-Diamonds}{8-Spades}, but Godwin had him pipped by one with her {A-Spades}{9-Hearts}.

A flop of {J-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}{2-Hearts} didn’t change anything and a chop looked unlikely.

The {K-Hearts} turn didn’t bring any split pot opportunities but the {8-Hearts} river allowed Sweeney to scoop the pot.

Godwin would get her remaining three big blinds in with {A-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds} but find herself in rough shape versus the {A-Spades}{J-Spades} held by Dillon Scanlan.

Despite turning a flush draw on the {5-Clubs}{7-Spades}{8-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds} board the {3-Clubs} river brought no salvation for Godwin. Worse still was that just one more place up the ladder would have meant an extra £1,000, with everyone now guaranteed £5,500 instead of the £4,500 Godwin takes home.

Big Flip

Level 34 : 200,000/400,000, 40,000 ante
That face you make when you hold with queens
That face you make when you hold with queens

Dillon Scanlan was busy scanning the room for shortstacks while perched on the edge of his chair as he was dealt into the next hand. He peeled his cards, centred himself, and announced "all-in" while pushing his stack over the line for the dealer to count. After revealing the amount to call was 8,800,000, Richard King called on the button and the blinds got out of the way.

King confidently showed {a-Spades}{k-Spades}, while Scanlan cautiously rolled over his {q-Diamonds}{q-Spades}, clearly aware of how cursed pocket queens are in this building. The dealer put an {a-Clubs} in the window, followed by a {k-Clubs}, but hiding underneath at the end of the spread was the {q-Clubs}! What a flop! Then turn came a {7-Clubs} offering chop outs, but the river bricked the {8-Diamonds} and 19,000,000 chips was shipped Scanlan's way. That hasn't done much damage to King's massive stack, though, as he is still the chipleader with 19 players left.

Paul Allen - Gone but not forgotten after winning Best Fancy Dressed Player at the party last night!

Paul Allen has exited in 19th place after clashing with similar stack Gary Langley.

The pair both started the hand around the 4 million mark but it was Allen who had the slight chip edge.

His {A-Hearts}{K-Hearts} needed to hit against the {9-Spades}{9-Clubs} of Langley, and still needed help after seeing the {3-Hearts}{4-Clubs}{6-Diamonds} flop.

The {10-Clubs} turn would bring no back door draws so when the river bricked in the form of the {8-Hearts}.

Allen would get his one big blind in the very next hand holding {8-Clubs}{5-Clubs} but would fail to overcome the {A-Diamonds}{J-Diamonds} of Peter Craw, who flopped a jack and held.

Two Golden Chip Holders

Who doesn't dream of a $10,000 Caribbean Poker Party package just for reaching a final table?
Who doesn't dream of a $10,000 Caribbean Poker Party package just for reaching a final table?

We only have two golden chip holders left i the Grand Prix UK Main Event, in the shape of Richard King and Robero Gordonas. Both men have been reseated at the same table (the feature table) with 16 players left. Not just that - they're sat right next to each other, with Gordonas holding position over the biggest chip stack in King.

"I've had a great day so far," King told us. "I've won almost all the all-ins I've been involved, which is good. That's what you need at this stage."

If either man (or both) make the final table, they'll win a $10,000 Caribbean Poker Party package...and that can be one of the most lucrative prizes partypoker give away! The final table is eight-handed, so they just have to make that final eight to get on the plane to Punta Cana!

Button on Blind Clash

Level 35 : 250,000/500,000, 50,000 ante

Andrei Frujina and Jamie Whyte clashed when Frujina’s button raise to 1.2m was met with resistance from Whyte, who defended his big blind, allowing the pair to see a flop reading {Q-Clubs}{10-Spades}{4-Hearts}.

Frujina continued the aggression, this time betting 825k, but it would be him doing the thinking after Whyte moved all in for his last 8 million chips.

After much deliberation Frujina made the call with his {A-Diamonds}{K-Spades}, but would need help to overcome the flopped two pair of Whyte, who held {Q-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}.

The {7-Clubs} turn left Frujina with only a gut-shot but the {9-Spades} would secure the pot for Whyte, putting the two players on very similar stacks of around 22m.
