Kempe and Tedeschi Trade Pots

Level 31 : 500,000/1,000,000, 1,000,000 ante
Rainer Kempe
Rainer Kempe

The action got off to a fast start when the players returned to break with Paul Tedeschi and Rainer Kempe colliding in multiple pots. Tedeschi held pocket deuces against the ace six of Kempe on a board of {6-}{4-}{3-}{2-}{a-}. Kempe led out from the big blind on the turn and the river and Tedeschi called both streets to claim the pot.

In the next hand, Steve O'Dwyer raised to 2.1 million with {q-Hearts}{q-Diamonds} and was called by Ben Tollerene with {a-Clubs}{9-Clubs} in the small blind. The flop of {k-Clubs}{q-Clubs}{4-Diamonds} was sure to spark some action and Tollerene check-called a bet of 4.6 million along 11 million on the {6-Hearts} turn card. The {j-Spades} on the river bricked off and Tollerene folded to O'Dwyer's shove.

Kempe and Tedeschi battle again with Kempe all in preflop for 12.6 million with {k-Spades}{j-Clubs}. Tedeschi called from the small blind with {j-Spades}{j-Hearts} leaving Kempe scrambling for help. The board ran out {10-Spades}{5-Clubs}{4-Spades}{6-Clubs}{k-Diamonds} as Kempe spiked a king on the river to double up.

Tollerene In Cruise Control

Level 31 : 500,000/1,000,000, 1,000,000 ante

The short stacks have been pretty snug as they try to outlast each other for the important pay jumps. Ben Tollerene hasn't had to worry about being a short stack yet and he's been the one applying all of the pressure. After looking down at {10-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}, he made it 2.2 million to go and was called by Charles La Boissonniere with {7-Spades}{7-Clubs} and Roger Teska with {10-Spades}{9-Hearts} in the big blind.

The flop came {4-Clubs}{2-Clubs}{2-Diamonds} and the action checked to La Boissonniere who bet 2.6 million. Teska folded and Tollerene check-raised to 8 million. La Boissonnniere called and the {q-Spades} rolled off on the turn. Both players checked and the {9-Diamonds} completed the board. Tollerene stuck in another bet of 10 million and La Boissonniere eventually folded.

Tollerene currently holds the chip lead after three levels of play with all nine players still in the action.

Joao Vieira Eliminated in 9th Place ($250,000)

Paul Tedeschi opened to 2.5 million in middle position with {a-Clubs}{a-Diamonds} and Joao Vieira looked down at the {j-Spades}{j-Hearts} in the hijack. Vieira struggled to pick up any hands thus far and was sitting on around 16 big blinds. He shoved all in for 17.5 million and Tedeschi quickly called when the action was back on him.

The flop fell {q-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}{4-Clubs} which provided no help to Vieira who was looking to hit a jack. The {a-Hearts} on the turn gave Tedeschi top set and Vieira was left drawing dead to the {10-Spades} on the river. While Vieira was not happy with a ninth-place finish, the $250,000 in his pocket is a nice consolation prize.

Niall Farrell Eliminated in 8th Place ($300,000)

The action folded to Steve O'Dwyer on the button who made it 2.6 million with {a-Hearts}{6-Hearts}. Niall Farrell was down to just eight big blinds and moved all in for 10.5 million with {2-Clubs}{2-Diamonds}. Roger Teska woke up with {8-Hearts}{8-Diamonds} in the big blind and re-shoved all in which forced O'Dwyer out of the hand.

Farrell was at risk and needed a lot of help heading to the {a-Spades}{10-Spades}{4-Spades} flop. The turn brought the {10-Diamonds} leaving Farrell drawing to just a deuce. The river was the {q-Diamonds} and Farrell was eliminated in eighth place. He will take home $300,000 for his efforts and just seven players remain.

Rainer Kempe

Steve O'Dwyer raised it up to 2.5 million in middle position with {a-Diamonds}{j-Clubs} and Rainer Kempe was on the button with {k-Clubs}{j-Hearts}. Kempe moved all in for around 12 big blinds for 15.6 million and the blinds folded. O'Dwyer happily made the call and was in a dominating position.

The flop came {a-Clubs}{9-Clubs}{5-Diamonds} giving O'Dwyer a pair of aces and a stranglehold on the hand. The turn was the {6-Diamonds} and Kempe stood up from his chair as he was already drawing dead. The insignificant river was the {k-Spades} and Kempe headed to the payout desk in seventh place.
