Esfandiari Makes Magic Happen on Day 1C of the $5,300 Main Event
An exhilarating day of poker has come to an end here at the Playground Poker Club Montreal, Canada. The partypoker MILLIONS North America $5,300 Main Event Day 1C had 413 runners, with 186 of those finding a bag and moving onto Day 2.
It was a field jam-packed full of well-known poker pros, with the biggest of those being Antonio Esfandiari. "The Magician" entered the field just before the midway point of the day. Esfandiari used his time wisely, as he still managed to spin up a stack of 4,600,000. He has earned himself the next couple of days off before he takes his seat again on Day 2B.
Esfandiari has accumulated over $26.7 million dollars in his career, where his biggest cash came at the 2012 WSOP in the $1,000,000 Big One for One Drop.
The chip leader moving on from Day 1C was Christopher Kostoulas who bagged himself 6,450,000 chips. He was closely followed by Lawrence Whyte (6,055,000), Dean Murphy (6,000,000), and Tim Reilly (6,000,000) as the only players who hit the six million chip mark. Some other big names moving on from Day 1C include Alexander Lynskey (5,270,000), Seth Davies (5,175,000), Ari Engel (4,030,000), Anthony Zinno (3,760,000), and defending champion Jean-Pascal Savard (3,740,000).
After the first three starting flights, there have been 313 players move onto Day 2. Friday will be the last day of Day 1s, with Day 1D beginning at 12:00 PM and Day 1E starting at 8:00 PM. Players will still be giving the opportunity to buy in on Day 2 for the first four levels.
