Anthony Gregg opened for 2,600 from early position and was called by Erik Seidel in middle position. When action was on Team PokerStars Pro (Brazil) Alex Gomes in the cutoff, he moved all in for right around 25,000. Gregg made the call while Seidel got out of the way.
Gregg:
Gomes:
Race situations have been the standard of the day thus far and this was no different. The flop changed nothing and neither did the turn. In order to survive, Gomes needed to catch a king of queen on the river. The dealer slowly burned and turned the non-paint . Gomes was sent to the rail while Gregg increased his stack to 175,000.
On a flop of , David Paredes bet 16,000 and Tobias Kuder called from the button. Both players then checked the turn and watched the peel off on the river. Paredes immediately moved all in for 48,800 and Kuder hit the tank. After a few minutes, Kuder laid down his hand and dropped to 70,000 in the process. Paredes is up to around 100,000.
With around 100,000 in the pot and a board reading , Rob Akery moved all in from the big blind for 42,000. His sole opponent, Josh Bergman, had been under the gun and only had 39,500. A call would be for all his chips and he seemed tortured. After a moment, Bergman showed Akery and reluctantly folded. Akery is up to around 142,000.
Darren Elias raised to 3,200 from the button only to be reraised to 11,500 by Vanessa Rousso in the big blind. Elias responded by moving all in and Rousso called off for a total of 40,300.
Elias:
Rousso:
The flop gave Elias some straight outs and the turn only added to them; however, the peeled off on the river and Rousso survived. She is now up to 85,000 or so; meanwhile, Elias is down to 80,000.
When Team PokerStars Pro (Costa Rica) Humberto Brenes goes all in, the room usually hears about it. This time, however, the all in of Brenes was subdued. Perhaps it was because his was dominated by the of Bryn Kenney.
The board ran out an uneventful and Kenney acquired Brenes' stack of 38,000. Unfortunately, one of poker's biggest and loudest characters has been eliminated from the tournament.
Action folded to Lawrence Greenberg in the small blind and he put in a raise to 8,000. Daniel Alaei was in the big blind and pushed back to the tune of 21,000. Greenberg thought for a moment, grabbed his stack, and moved all in for a total of 60,000. Alaei quickly called and the cards were revealed:
Alaei:
Greenberg:
Big pairs colliding in the blinds is unusual, but at least Greenberg, who was the one at risk, held the better hand. The flop changed nothing and neither did the river. Alaei could only catch a queen on the river to eliminate his opponent. BINK . . . on the river for the two outer. Greenberg was shell shocked as he exited the tournament area. With that, Alaei is up to 220,000.
Faraz Jaka raised to 3,700 from the cutoff only to have Bryn Kenney reraise to 11,500 from the button. Both blinds folded and Jaka made the call to see the flop. Both players checked and the dealer burned and turned the .
Jaka bet 16,000 and Kenney smooth-called behind. When the hit the river, Jaka fired out 70,000! Kenney opted to make the call but could only muck after seeing Jaka's . Jaka is up to 250,000 while Kenney dropped to just 20,000.
Team PokerStars Pro (USA) Jason Mercier raised to 3,200 from the cutoff and received a call from fellow pro Vanessa Rousso in the big blind. Both players checked the flop and watched as the turn came the . At this point, Rousso check-called a bet of 3,800 from Mercier. Both players then checked the river and Rousso showed for a pair of jacks. Mercier flipped his own for a pair of jacks, but his accompanying player and he won the small pot. Mercier is holding steady at 75,000.
From what we could gather, John Racener opened from middle position and received calls from Dan Heimiller on the button and the two players in the blinds. Racener then bet 6,000 on the flop, Heimiller raised to 16,000, both blinds folded, and Racener made the call.
When the peeled of on the turn, Racener checked, Heimiller bet, and Racener jammed all in for a total of 57,200. The raise sent Heimiller into the tank for a solid five minutes before he ultimately released his hand. Racener is up to 145,000.
