Woodward Chopped Down

Level 12 : 1,200/2,400, 300 ante

Matt Woodward was all in preflop for around 25,000 holding the {A-Spades}{Q-Spades} and up against the {K-Spades}{K-Diamonds} of Javier Tazon. The {6-Spades}{3-Clubs}{8-Spades} flop gave Woodward a flush draw and a fighting chance. The {8-Clubs} turn was no help. Woodward needed a spade or ace on the river to survive, but it ended up being the {9-Clubs}. Woodward gathered his things and made a hasty exit from the tournament floor.

Akkari Busted by Cates

Level 12 : 1,200/2,400, 300 ante
Andre Akkari - Out
Andre Akkari - Out

Andre Akkari moved all in from the hijack for his last 38,500 and was called by Daniel Cates on the button.

Cates: {8-Clubs}{8-Hearts}
Akkari: {2-Hearts}{2-Clubs}

Akkari needed a deuce but quickly stood to shake Cates' hand when the flop fell {8-Diamonds}{6-Spades}{4-Diamonds}. The {A-Clubs} on the turn left Akkari drawing dead and the {5-Diamonds} was put out on the river for good measure. Cates is up to 170,000.

Life is Fair for Deeb

Level 12 : 1,200/2,400, 300 ante
Freddy Deeb
Freddy Deeb

Freddy Deeb was all in preflop for 86,900 with {10-Spades}{10-Clubs} against the {A-Hearts}{K-Spades} of chip leader Ryan Fair. The {5-Diamonds}{5-Spades}{4-Hearts} flop kept Deeb firmly in the lead and the {2-Hearts} turn did not change that. Deeb managed to dodge a three, ace, and king on the river, which came the {9-Diamonds}, and doubled to 178,000. Fair dropped a bit to 310,000.

Bergman Cooked

Level 12 : 1,200/2,400, 300 ante

Josh Bergman was all in preflop squaring off against World Series of Poker runner-up John Racener.

Bergman: {K-Hearts}{Q-Diamonds}
Racener: {A-Clubs}{9-Clubs}

Racener was already in the lead when he improved to a pair of nines on the {2-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}{5-Spades} flop. The dealer burned and turned the {J-Spades}, giving Bergman a few extra out. He now needed a king, queen, or ten to survive, but the river brought the {5-Hearts}.

Bergman was eliminated from the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure $25,000 High Roller Tournament while Racener is up to 76,000.

Hachem and Collins Eliminated

Level 12 : 1,200/2,400, 300 ante
Joe Hachem
Joe Hachem

Philipp Gruissem raised to 4,800 and PokerStars Team Pro (Australia) Joe Hachem moved all in for his last 20,000 or so. Gruissem made the call and the cards were turn up:

Gruissem: {10-Hearts}{9-Hearts}
Hachem: {A-Spades}{5-Spades}

Hachem was ahead preflop but not after the {9-Clubs}{K-Clubs}{3-Diamonds} flop. The {4-Spades} turn gave him some outs to a wheel, but the {J-Clubs} sent the former world champion to the rail. Gruissem is up to 217,000.

Likewise, Phil Collins was eliminated after running {Q-}{J-} into pocket kings.

Lose One, Win One for Kagawa

Level 12 : 1,200/2,400, 300 ante

Tyler Reiman raised to 5,100 under the gun and Masa Kagawa called from the button. Josh Arieh then moved all in from the big blind for 40,600. Reiman folded but Kagawa made the call.

Arieh: {K-Spades}{Q-Diamonds}
Kagawa: {A-Diamonds}{Q-Hearts}

Kagawa was excited to see he was in a dominating spot. The {5-Diamonds}{J-Hearts}{7-Spades} flop was no help to Arieh and the {3-Diamonds} turn left him drawing to a king on the river. As fate would have it, the {K-Hearts} hit the river and Kagawa hit the table in frustration. Arieh doubled to around 85,000.

On the next hand, Daniel Alaei raised to 6,000 only to have Kagawa move all in for 60,400. Action folded back to Alaei and he called.

Alaei: {A-Diamonds}{K-Clubs}
Kagawa: {5-Spades}{5-Hearts}

Once again Kagawa was ahead but he was racing for his tournament life. The {4-Clubs}{8-Spades}{Q-Spades} kept Kagawa in the lead as did the {2-Spades} turn. Kagawa just had to avoid the river, which he couldn't do last time, in order to double to 120,000. The dealer burned and slowly revealed the {8-Clubs}. Kagawa smiled as his up and down journey continues.

No Mercy for Elias

Level 13 : 1,500/3,000, 300 ante

Jason Mercier raised to 6,000 from the hijack and was immediately met with an all-in reraise to 39,000 from Darren Elias on the button. The blinds folded and Mercier made the call:

Mercier: {A-Spades}{10-Hearts}
Elias: {6-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}

Elias wasn't that much of a dog until the flop came down {A-Diamonds}{K-Spades}{A-Hearts}. Elias was already making his exit as the dealer turned the {Q-Hearts} followed by the {Q-Clubs} on the river. Mercier took down the pot with a full house and added 39,000 to his stack.

Reiman Extends Chip Lead

Level 13 : 1,500/3,000, 300 ante
Ty Reiman
Ty Reiman

With around 70,000 in the pot and a board reading {9-Clubs}{7-Clubs}{6-Hearts}{7-Hearts}, a war broke out between Ty Reiman and Masa Kagawa. We believe Kagawa checked-shoved all in for 103,400. Reiman wasn't quick to call, but he eventually did.

Kagawa: {A-Clubs}{5-Clubs}
Reiman: {J-Spades}{9-Spades}

"Good luck," Reiman said to his opponent. As fate would have it, luck was not in Kagawa's corner as the {2-Hearts} hit. Reiman took down the huge pot to push him over 500,000 and into the chip lead. Kagawa, on the other hand, was left to make the long, lonely walk out of the tournament area.
