Daniel Negreanu Bets Big on Himself for the Poker Masters

Level 26 : 40,000/80,000, 80,000 ante

Daniel Negreanu was the first player of the Poker Masters to visit the payout desk after he finished in eighth place in Event #1 early Thursday morning for $102,000. It might not have been the finish he hoped for, but it also means he’s the first player on the leader board for the Poker Masters Purple Jacket™.

Great Turn Card for Nick Schulman

Level 26 : 40,000/80,000, 80,000 ante

Matt Hyman raised to 240,000 holding the {7-Spades}{7-Diamonds} and Nick Schulman just called with the {a-Clubs}{4-Hearts}.

Schulman then check-called a bet of 250,000 on the {5-Hearts}{2-Clubs}{q-Hearts} flop and hit the wheel on the {3-Spades} turn. Schulman checked, Hyman bet 500,000, and Schulman woke up with a check-raise to 1.5 million.

Hyman used a time extension before laying it down.

Matt Hyman Doubles for a Second Time

Level 26 : 40,000/80,000, 80,000 ante

Nick Schulman had Matt Hyman on the ropes, but once again he escaped elimination.

It happened when Schulman limped with the {a-Spades}{7-Hearts} and Hyman raised to 330,000 holding the {k-Clubs}{10-Spades}. Schulman responded by moving all in and Hyman opted to call off for 1.855 million.

Hyman was looking for some help, and he got it on the {7-Spades}{q-Spades}{k-Diamonds} flop. The {K-Hearts} turn left Schulman drawing dead, and he relinquished the chip lead after the {J-Diamonds} was run out on the river.

Nick Schulman Slipping

Level 27 : 50,000/100,000, 100,000 ante

Matt Hyman limped with the {6-Hearts}{4-Hearts} and Nick Schulman checked his option with the {10-Hearts}{8-Clubs}. Both players then checked the {j-Diamonds}{3-Hearts}{9-Spades} flop and the dealer burned and turned the {5-Spades}.

Schulman bet 200,000, Hyman called, and the {A-Hearts} river missed both players. Schulman checked and then folded when Hyman bet 570,000.

Nick Schulman Doubles Through Matt Hyman

Level 27 : 50,000/100,000, 100,000 ante

Matt Hyman raised to 300,000 only to have Nick Schulman move all in for 2.63 million. Hyman asked for a count and then opted to call.

Hyman: {k-Hearts}{10-Spades}
Schulman: {a-Hearts}{8-Hearts}

Hyman needed to catch, but that didn't happen as the board ran out {6-Clubs}{j-Diamonds}{a-Spades}{8-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds} to give Schulman the double. With that, we now have the biggest gap in the chip counts since heads-up play began.

Matt Hyman Doubles

Level 27 : 50,000/100,000, 100,000 ante

Nick Schulman moved all in from the button and put the pressure on Matt Hyman, who called off for a little over 900K.

Hyman: {9-Hearts}{8-Clubs}
Schulman: {j-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}

Hyman needed help and he got it on the {6-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}{2-Spades} flop. Neither the {7-Diamonds} turn nor {6-Spades} river helped Schulman and he sent over some chips.
