Michael Gentili Keeps Climbing

Level 21 : 8,000/16,000, 2,000 ante

Michael Gentili started the day with 688,000 but dropped down to less than half of that. After winning an all in with ace-king vs the ace-ten of Scott Stewart, Gentili clawed his way back and is now in the thick of things again.

On a board reading {j-Clubs}{7-Clubs}{9-Hearts}{7-Spades}{q-Diamonds}, with about 200,000 in the middle already, Pedro Cabeca led out for 125,000. Gentili was in the cutoff and three-bet to 260,000. Cabeca thought about it for a moment and eventually called.

Gentili quickly tabled {k-Diamonds}{10-Spades} for the nut straight and Cabeca mucked his cards.

Gentili now has just shy of a million chips.

Andriamahefa Getting Shorter

Level 21 : 8,000/16,000, 2,000 ante

Scott Stewart was the one opening the action with a raise to 32,000 from middle position. Big blind Kevin Andriamahefa called to see a flop heads-up.

Andriamahefa check-called a bet of 44,000 on {9-Spades}{10-Clubs}{5-Clubs} before leading 50,000 on the {5-Spades} turn. Andriamahefa had just 209,000 behind at this point but opted to fold after Stewart raised to 128,000.

Kevin Andriamahefa
Kevin Andriamahefa

Kevin Andriamahefa was the shortest stack coming back from break and shoved from middle position for exactly 200,000. Small blind Michael Bartholomew asked for a count and then reshoved upon finding out it was ten big blinds. The big blind folded right away.

Kevin Andriamahefa: {A-Spades}{2-Spades}
Michael Bartholomew: {A-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}

The {10-Spades}{K-Clubs}{7-Clubs} made Bartholomew the heavy favorite but the {5-Spades} on the turn was a scare card. The {10-Diamonds} on the river wasn't one of the cards Andriamahefa was looking for and he exited the tournament in 24th place winning $19,000. The remaining 23 players are guaranteed $24,640 from here on out.

Nadya Magnus Doubles Through Cliff Josephy

Level 22 : 10,000/20,000, 3,000 ante
Nadya Magnus
Nadya Magnus

Action folded around to Nadya Magnus and she moved all in for her last 235,000 chips from the small blind.

Cliff Josephy was in the big blind and didn't think too long before deciding to call.

Magnus: {8-Hearts}{8-Clubs}
Josephy: {a-Clubs}{2-Diamonds}

The flop came {k-Diamonds}{q-Hearts}{10-Spades}, giving Josephy some outs to make a straight but keeping Magnus in the lead with a pair of eights.

The turn was the {q-Spades}. Josephy picked up even more outs should the board double-pair and counterfeit Magnus' lower pocket pair.

The river was the {q-Diamonds} and Magnus survived to double up.

Vela Doubles Through Opalikhin

Level 22 : 10,000/20,000, 3,000 ante

Michael Vela got his 524,000 in under the gun with {a-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds} against the {a-Hearts}{j-Diamonds} of big blind Aleksei Opalikhin. The flop came {10-Diamonds}{5-Spades}{7-Spades}, saving Vela, and he asked for a diamond, not content with his newfound lead. The turn was a diamond but it was the {q-Diamonds}, giving Opalikhin a straight draw. The river was a {q-Spades} and Vela doubled through.
