Mikael "ChaoRen160" Thuritz opened for 300 and got called by Christoph "26071985" Vogelsang to his direct left and Talal "raidalot" Shakerchi defended his big blind.
Thuritz bet 583 on the flop and only Vogelsang made the call. With 2,266 in the pot Thuritz overbet for 2,855 on the turn, but that didn't scare Vogelsang, who called again. But the German folded when Thuritz bet a 5,880 after the was dealt on the river.
After the hand against Thuritz, chipleader Christoph "26071985" Vogelsang just lost another big pot. This time OtB_RedBaron came out on top.
The Belgian opened under the gun to 356 and Vogelsang was the only caller. Both checked on the flop before the fireworks started when the landed on the turn. OtB_RedBaron placed a bet of 2,006 in a pot of only 1,127 chips and Vogelsang quickly called.
The landed on the river and this time OtB_RedBaron made a bet of 2,004. Vogelsang called again, but was shown the bad news as his opponent tabled for a straight.
The eighth player to play in this tournament is Timofey "Trueteller" Kuznetsov. With the Russian joining this event, the players are spread out over two tables. Kuznetsov is playing against Thuritz, Haxton and Shakerchi.
Over on table two we have Sulsky, "OtB_RedBaron", Vogelsang and Polk.
He wasn't much involved in the action in the first levels, but now Belgian player OtB_RedBaron has put his foot on the gas.
He already won a couple of nice pots and just won another against Doug "WCG|Rider" Polk, who started the hand with a raise to 400 from under the gun. OtB_RedBaron 3-bet from the small blind and made it 1,852, Polk called.
After a check from the Belgian, it was Polk to bet on the flop and he put in 1,853. OtB_RedBaron immediately check-raised to 4,790 and Polk folded.
Jason Mercier just joined the table with Thuritz, Haxton, Shakerchi and Kuznetsov. We already expected the American pro in this event. Mercier announced this week that he was going to play this Super High Roller, and stream it on Twitch.
He streams it with his hole cards up, with a 15-minute delay. Fellow pro, and friend, Jason Sommerville will be commentating on the stream and he will be accompanied by PokerStars' Lee Jones.
Doug Polk is also streaming this event on a delay, you can check his stream out on twitch.tv/dougpolkpoker
There was a small controversy some time ago, right when Timofey "Trueteller" Kuznetsov joined this event. He was the eighth player in the tournament and was seated at table one, but with late registration still in progress, they needed to start another table.
So Ben "Sauce123" Sulsky was put on the second table, but at first, he was only joined by OtB_RedBaron. All players expected the tables to be balanced with four players apiece, but that didn't happen right away. So Sulsky and OtB_RedBaron had to play a couple of hands heads-up, while the other table still had six players.
There were some comments in the chat about it, but when PokerStars balanced the tables, the peace returned.
Jason Mercier already lost a third of his stack. It happened in two hands. First, he lost 3,000 chips to Mikael "ChaoRen160" Thuritz, but some hands later he lost even more to Talal "raidalot" Shakerchi.
Shakerchi opened under the gun for 428 and Mercier defended his big blind. The PokerStars Pro check-raised a 409-bet to 1,248 on the flop. He fired 2,882 on the and Shakerchi called again.
Mercier slowed down when the board double paired with the on the river. He checked and Shakerchi checked behind. Mercier had for two pair, but lost to Shakerchi's which turned into a straight on the turn.
After a false start, Talal "raidalot" Shakerchi is slowly grinding his way back up. He just won some more chips, when came out on top in a hand against Timofey "Trueteller" Kuznetsov.
Shakerchi opened under the gun to 428, but to his immediate left Kuznetsov reraised, to make it 1,500. Shakerchi was the only caller and the two saw the flop. Shakerchi check-called a bet of 1,400, before both player checked on the turn.
The on the river made Shakerchi bet out 3,312 and that was enough to take down the pot.
