Flights B and C of the $370 Opening Event followed the same drill as Flight A as play was fast and action packed on Day 1bc. From the beginning the plan was to play down till 8% remained and it took a little bit less than 11 hours for 92% of the field to be sent to the rail.
Play for Flight B began at 11 a.m. and it gathered a total of 405 entries and at the end of a long day of play, just 32 remained.
Flight C drew a smaller crowd with 281 entries that was played down to 22 remaining players by the end of the day around 4am.
Leading all players of both flights at the end of the day was Curtis Ehrgott, who bagged an eye-popping 1,402,000, which is more than 50 times the starting stack of 25,000. He caught fire late in the night, playing the role of grim reaper for many players’ tournament lives as he eliminated as many as 17 players according to him in a relatively short span of time.
Also bagging big from Flight C was Brandon Holder who ended pay with 800,500. Ehrgott and Holder were by far the two largest stacks to emerge from Flight C as nobody else finished the flight with more than 500,000.
Flight B had a larger amount of big stacks at the end of play, the biggest of all being Richie Smith who bagged a gigantic stack of 1,308,500. He already had a large stack before dinner break but won a huge hand in the later levels of the day, when another large stack player shoved pocket jacks into his pocket kings on the turn on a board with four undercards.
Other big stacks at the conclusion of Flight B were Jae Chong with 694,000 who experienced many ups and downs late in the day before finishing on a high, Joseph Paul (676,000), Quan Tran (663,000), Jonathan Kinder (661,000) and Paul Min (645,500).
All remaining players will advance to Day 2 on Sunday along with the players who survive Flights D and E on Saturday.
