Wu Flush With Chips

Level 5 : Blinds 300/500, 500 ante
Xiaohai Wu
Xiaohai Wu

A player in early position opened to 1,300 and was called by Xiaohai Wu in middle position, the player in the hijack, and Craig Logue on the button.

The flop came {10-Spades}{8-Hearts}{2-Spades} and it was checked to Wu, who bet 2,500. The player in the hijack called and Craig Logue then shoved for his last 23,100 from the button. It was folded back to Wu, who also went all in for 39,500. The player in the hijack snap-called and all hands were revealed.

Xiaohai Wu: {a-Spades}{3-Spades}
Hijack: {2-Diamonds}{2-Clubs}
Craig Logue: {q-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}

A set of deuces was well ahead, but a {j-Spades} turn vaulted Wu into the lead with a flush.

The {3-Hearts} river changed nothing and Wu more than doubled up while eliminating Logue from contention.

Weng Spikes The River

Level 4 : Blinds 200/400, 400 ante
Bin Weng
Bin Weng

Bin Weng was all in from early position against a lone opponent in the small blind, whom he had slightly covered.

Bin Weng: {a-Hearts}{j-Clubs}
Small blind: {a-Spades}{k-Hearts}

Weng was dominated, but the {10-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}{j-Hearts} runout paired Weng's jack on the river to eliminate his opponent and send Weng the sizable pot.

Latourette Takes it on The Turn

Level 3 : Blinds 200/300, 300 ante
Jason Latourtette
Jason Latourtette

A player limped under-the-gun and action folded to Jason Latourette in the cutoff, who raised to 1,100. Action folded back to the limper, who called.

The flop came {9-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}{6-Hearts} and it was checked to Latourette, who continued for 1,500. His opponent called.

The {a-Diamonds} fell on the turn and it was checked to Latourette again and he bet 2,500. This time his opponent folded and Latourette took down the pot.

Welcome to Day 1 of Event #9: $1200 No-Limit Hold'em Freezeout as the 2023 Potomac Winter Poker Open enters the home stretch with just four days of tournaments remaining. Today's two-day tournament is a new event for the Potomac Winter Poker Open and features a $50K guarantee. The "freezeout" element means there will be no re-buys or re-entering; once a player enters and busts — that's it.

The last $50K guarantee here at the Potomac Winter Poker Open was won by Vivian Lundgren late last night in Event #7: $400 No-Limit Hold'em after besting a 176-player field. Today's event marks the third $50k guarantee of the series thus far.

Players will begin with 50,000 in tournament chips with blinds starting at 100/100 and a 100 big-blind ante. Levels will last 40 minutes each throughout the event. Late registration will be available until the beginning of level 13 and Day 1 will end at the completion of level 18. Day 2 will resume on Friday, February 3 at 2 p.m.

Be sure to stick with PokerNews as we provide you with all the action during this prestigious freezeout event!
