Nastasis Done and Dusted

Level 6 : 300/500, 500 ante

We missed the elimination of Michelle Nastasis but as she swung by the media desk she informed us it was the result of a cooler.

It was the classic tale of running pocket kings smack dab into aces.

Yesterday Nastasis won roughly $450 in a local Reno tournament and was hoping to parlay that into an even bigger payday here in the Mini Main Event. Unfortunately, that's not going to happen as she finds herself on the rail.

Capps and the Three Ladies

Level 6 : 300/500, 500 ante

In the last hand of Level 6, Vincent Newland, who is sitting on a big stack, opened for 1,200 under the gun and the player in the cutoff called. Jesse Capps, who had just moved to the table into the big blind, came along and it was three-way action to the {10-Diamonds}{q-Clubs}{2-Diamonds} flop.

Capps checked, Newland bet 1,600, and both his opponents called. All three players then checked the {j-Diamonds} turn before the {q-Hearts} completed the board on the river.

Capps led out for 2,500 and Newland called. The player in the cutoff got out of the way and Capps tabled the {q-Diamonds}{5-Clubs} for trip queens. It was good as Newland sent his hand to the muck unseen.

Owen Busts Lonis

Level 7 : 300/600, 600 ante

With 4,200 in the pot and a flop of {7-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}{6-Hearts}, Jesse Lonis got his last 14,000 or so all in against Adam Owen.

Owen: {a-Clubs}{a-Hearts}
Lonis: {5-Hearts}{5-Spades}

Lonis went with his open-ended straight draw and needed some help to crack Owen's aces.

The {a-Diamonds} turn gave Owen a set and left Lonis looking to complete his straight draw, but that proved easier said than done as the {q-Diamonds} bricked on the river.

Somerville Busts His First Bullet of RIU Reno VIII

Level 7 : 300/600, 600 ante

Jason Somerville, the man responsible for Run It Up Reno and all its glory, has been nursing a short stack for a while.

In a recent hand, action folded to him in the small blind and he jammed his short stack holding {k-}{5-}. Adam Owen was in the big and called with {k-}{j-}.

"King-jack is better than king-five," Somerville explained. Indeed it is, and his failure to get lucky sent him to the rail.

The silver lining is he'll now be available to attend the Welcome Party at 6 p.m. local time.
