The 2015 Seneca Niagara Falls Summer Slam continued this evening with the sixth and final starting flight in Event #3, a $50 No-Limit Hold'em tournament with a $25,000 guarantee.
This flight drew a total of 206 entries, playing down to just 28 remaining players as Level 15 came to a close. Adding these 206 entries to those from the first five flights meant a total of 961 entries, pushing well past the $25,000 guarantee to create a $38,400 total prizepool. That means 54 spots will get paid with a min-cash worth $165 and $8,841 reserved for first - A massive amount, considering the $50 buy-in.
Tonight, David Battaglia ran good to jump into the lead as the flight wore on, then got gifted a whack of chips by Galvin Van Brussel late, who was shoving blind with a relatively short stack in an attempt to build a bigger stack than he had bagged in an earlier flight. In the end, Battaglia bagged 211,100, becoming just the third player over 200,000 headed to Day 2.
These 28 survivors will join the 98 from the first four flights, meaning 126 will come back and play down to a champion Thursday. At this point, they will all be chasing Day 1d chip leader Tom Babiarz and his overall leading 254,700-chip stack.
Tune in to PokerNews for the kickoff of Day 2 at 11 a.m. Thursday and updates of all the action live from the floor of the poker room at Seneca Niagara all day long.
Peter Patta made it 6,000 and Alex Barker responded with a raise to 15,000.
Patta made the call, then jammed in for 53,900 on the flop. Barker contemplated the call for a few minutes, then made it with . He was behind Patta's and the kicker played on a run out.
Thanks to a massive three-way all-in hand where he managed to get pocket queens to stand up, Niagara-On-The-Lake, Canada's Jack Robson has jumped into a spot among the leaders now.
He's got over 60,000 in chips and looking for more.
Hamilton, Ontario, Canada's Don Morris claims he's a recreational player and the massive stack sitting in front of him right now came purely through luck and good fortune.
"I'm no professional," he said. "I just can't miss. I'm on a roll."
In fact, he's rolled all the way into the chip lead heading into the second break and looking more and more like a wolf in sheep's clothing with every flop, turn and river.
Seneca Niagara regular and delightful poker hobbyist Alicia LaPorte Pachla, who has fired multiple bullets in multiple starting days in this event so far, finally got what she wanted - An early double up and her photo on the PokerNews Live Updates page.
She's among the chip leaders into Level 4 with over 20,000 in chips after getting it in with pocket aces and holding over pocket queens.
2015 Seneca Niagara Falls Summer Slam Event #2 winner Galvin Van Brussel is running pretty good right now.
Of course, there's the Event #2 win, in which he refused a heads-up chop, then came from way down to capture the crown. Add that to the fact he's already bagged a stack from an earlier flight here in Event #3 and there's no denying he's on fire.
Van Brusel is trying to better what he bagged in this flight now and that effort got off to a good start moments ago when one player ran smack into his nut flush, shoving the river then mucking.
