Paul H Sends Field to Five Tables

Level 11 : 800/1,600, 200 ante

A player in early position opened to 3,600 only to see Paul H three-bet to 9,000 in late position. The player on the button four-bet shoved for 31,000 forcing the early position player to fold but Paul H went into the tank. A brief back and forth between the two must have given Paul H some good information as he made the right call.

Paul H: {a-Spades}{8-Spades}
Opponent: {j-Clubs}{9-Clubs}

A {k-Hearts}{j-Spades}{7-Hearts} flop quickly put Paul h behind but a very welcoming {a-Hearts} on the turn gave him back the lead and it held through the {6-Hearts} on the river.

With the elimination, the field dipped to 50 players breaking them into five tables.

The Mayor Spikes One-Outter to Make Straight Flush

Level 11 : 800/1,600, 200 ante

Four players including 'Mayor' Mike Rellinger paid 3,500 to see a {k-Clubs}{j-Clubs}{2-Hearts} flop. Then things escalated. Very quickly.

A string of bets had Rellinger and another player all-in and at risk with some massive hands.

Mike Rellinger: {q-Clubs}{10-Clubs}
Opponent: {a-Spades}{a-Hearts}
Opponent: {a-Clubs}{5-Clubs}

Both Rellinger and one of his opponents had flush draws though Rellinger also had outs to a straight while up against a pair of aces.

As luck would have it and for extreme dramatic effect, the {9-Clubs} peeled off on the turn giving Rellinger a straight flush and guaranteeing the pot. The {8-Spades} finalized the board and Rellinger was paid the near triple up sending one opponent to the rail.

Pifer Wins a Race

Level 12 : 1,000/2,000, 300 ante

After flatting a preflop open, Jim Pifer called a three-bet jam of about 10 big blinds to put his opponent at risk.

Jim Pifer: {9-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}
Opponent: {j-Clubs}{k-Diamonds}

The board ran out {8-Clubs}{10-Hearts}{7-Hearts}{4-Hearts}{j-Spades} giving Pifer a straight though, a few at the table didn't notice right away thinking Pifer had lost the race on the river.

Campbell Scoops Massive Pot to Take the Lead

Level 12 : 1,000/2,000, 300 ante

With a sizeable pot already brewing in the middle of a {j-Spades}{6-Clubs}{a-Diamonds}{9-Spades} board, Tim Campbell moved all-in for 105,000 and confused his opponent into making a huge call.

Tim Campbell: {a-Hearts}{9-Clubs}
Opponent: {a-Spades}{5-Diamonds}

Campbell had his opponent drawing to just a chop as the {8-Spades} completed the board giving Campbell the pot. Both stacks were cut down with Campbell just barely having his opponent covered giving him an almost double up and vaulting him into the chip lead.

From Two Antes to Fifty Bigs

Level 13 : 1,200/2,400, 300 ante

It's still too early in the event to go crazy about this story but it should be noted that just three levels ago at 600/1200, Zeljko Mihelic had just 400 chips. That was two antes.

Fast forward to the 1200/2400 level and Mihelic now sits with 52 big blinds, about 125,000 chips.

It's only Day 1 but something to store in the bank of Mihelic makes a run here.
