Brian Zekus Eliminated on Final Table Bubble

Level 25 : 15,000/30,000, 4,000 ante
Brian Zekus busted in 11th.
Brian Zekus busted in 11th.

Action folded to Brian Zekus, who shoved all in for 292,000. Tony Lazar called in the small blind.

Lazar: {a-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds}
Zekus: {q-Hearts}{j-Clubs}

Zekus' dominated hand improved considerably on the {10-Hearts}{9-Hearts}{4-Spades} flop. The {10-Clubs} paired the board on the turn, no help to Zekus. A {2-Spades} river meant the final table was set, and a disappointed Zekus silently pushed his stack into the middle.

Players are moving to the final table, at which point stacks will be counted and a dinner break will commence.

Brian Soja Eliminated in 10th Place ($7,352)

Level 25 : 15,000/30,000, 4,000 ante
Brian Soja -10th Place
Brian Soja -10th Place

Mike Lang opened for 90,000 in middle position, and Brian Soja announced a raise when action folded to his big blind. He made it 230,000. Lang shoved all in, and Soja snap-called.

"S***," Lang said, turning over {k-Hearts}{k-Clubs} and obviously fearing the worst.

He was the one in command though, as Soja tabled {q-Spades}{q-Clubs}.

"Quick exit this year I guess," Soja said as the dealer spread a flop of {2-Hearts}{j-Spades}{4-Clubs}. Soja took second in this event last year for just over $50,000.

A {10-Clubs} turn changed nothing, and the {6-Hearts} river meant Soja was the first to exit the final table.

Dennis Stevermer Eliminated in 9th Place ($9,298)

Level 26 : 20,000/40,000, 5,000 ante
Dennis Stevermer - Ninth Place
Dennis Stevermer - Ninth Place

Mike Wilmes opened for 86,000 in the hijack, and Dennis Stevermer shipped from the cutoff. Wilmes called, since it was only 100,000 more.

Wilmes: {q-Diamonds}{8-Clubs}
Stevermer: {k-Hearts}{j-Clubs}

Wilmes flopped top pair when the {7-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}{5-Clubs} came out, and Stevermer was drawing dead when the {8-Spades} turned. He rapped the table and made his leave.

Tony Lazar Eliminated in 8th Place ($10,812)

Tony Lazar - Eighth Place
Tony Lazar - Eighth Place

Tony Lazar pushed all in from middle position, and Mike Lang called quickly from the next spot. Everyone else mucked.

Lazar: {a-Spades}{10-Spades}
Lang: {j-Clubs}{j-Hearts}

A subdued voice on the rail called for an ace, but none appeared on the {q-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}{5-Clubs}{4-Hearts}{6-Diamonds} board, dooming Lazar to eighth.

Jason Smith Eliminated in 7th Place ($12,974)

Level 26 : 20,000/40,000, 5,000 ante
Jason Smith - Seventh Place
Jason Smith - Seventh Place

Mike Wilmes raised to 88,000, and Jim Lawrence made the call. In the next spot, Jason Smith shoved all in for about 500,000, and action folded back to Lawrence, who tanked a bit before announcing a call.

Lawrence: {k-Diamonds}{q-Diamonds}
Smith: {10-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}

Smith was on the steal, but he still had live cards. The {3-Hearts}{6-Hearts}{7-Diamonds} gave him more outs with a gutshot, but a {j-Clubs} meant he needed to improve on the river. The {a-Diamonds} was a dead card for Smith, and the Michigan native hit the rail in seventh.

Jerome Getz Eliminated in 6th Place ($15,137)

Level 27 : 25,000/50,000, 5,000 ante
Jerome Getz - Sixth Place
Jerome Getz - Sixth Place

Jerome Getz got the last of it in with {10-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds} against the {10-Clubs}{10-Spades} of Mike Lang.

"I did not want to see that," Getz said with a smile. "That is the worst scenario."

He was right, but an {8-Diamonds}{3-Spades}{7-Spades} flop brought plenty of outs in the form of a straight draw. An {a-Diamonds} gave him even more equity with a flush draw.

"Wow, you have a lot of outs," Lang said with his arms crossed. "Deuce of spades."

The {a-Hearts} was just as good, and Getz shook hands with the remaining players before going to get paid.

Ken Pates Eliminated in 5th Place ($21,624)

Level 28 : 30,000/60,000, 10,000 ante
Ken Pates - Fifth Place
Ken Pates - Fifth Place

Ken Pates raised to 170,000 on the button, and Mike Lang defended his big blind. Lang checked to the raiser on the {k-Clubs}{a-Spades}{6-Spades} flop, and Pates fired 225,000. Lang raised it to 500,000, and Pates announced a deep-voiced all in.

Lang tanked for a long few minutes before voicing a call.

Lang: {a-Hearts}{q-Hearts}
Pates: {a-Diamonds}{3-Spades}

Lang was in a great spot, needing to fade only a three, while a pair on the board below kings would chop it for Pates. The {2-Diamonds} and {7-Hearts} kept it clean for Lang, and Pates had to settle for fifth.

Lawrence Loses Raising War to Wilmes

Level 28 : 30,000/60,000, 10,000 ante
Mike Wilmes either had the goods or didn't believe Lawrence.
Mike Wilmes either had the goods or didn't believe Lawrence.

Mike Wilmes defended his big blind from a min-raise by Jim Lawrence, and they took in a flop of {q-Spades}{7-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}. Lawrence continuation-bet 160,000 after a check, and Wilmes came back with 340,000. Lawrence tanked for a bit, and then he said he was raising.

"Nine hundred," he said, sliding out stacks of 100,000 one at a time.

Wilmes thought briefly before pushing all in for about another 700,000, and Lawrence tanked again before releasing his cards.

Jim Lawrence - Fourth Place

Jim Lawrence just got eliminated in a hand we didn't see. According to the tournament staff, he got it all in after a {7-}{6-}{4-} flop against the {7-}{5-} of Mike Wilmes. Lawrence had flopped two pair with {7-}{6-}, but Wilmes rivered a {3-} for a straight.

Players are on a 10-minute break.

Harry Behling Eliminated in 3rd Place ($41,085)

Level 29 : 40,000/80,000, 10,000 ante
Harry Behling - Third Place
Harry Behling - Third Place

Harry Behling opened to 180,000 on the button, and Mike Wilmes shipped it in the big blind. Behling called off his 1.4 million after thinking for a couple of minutes.

Behling: {a-Spades}{3-Spades}
Wilmes: {j-Diamonds}{8-Clubs}

Wilmes had been caught shipping light, but the {q-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}{7-Spades} flop bailed him out with a pair. Behling slammed a few chips with frustration as the {6-Hearts} turned, leaving him drawing to three outs. The {2-Spades} didn't help him, and the beat sent him to the payout desk.
