Jason Seitz Eliminated in 8th Place ($9,582)

Level 23 : 10,000/20,000, 3,000 ante
Jason Seitz - 8th Place
Jason Seitz - 8th Place

Jason Seitz opened for 45,000 under the gun and was called by Ervin Bjerga in middle position. In the small blind, Ken Pates announced a reraise and made it 145,000 to go. Seitz called, as did Bjerga, bloating the pot to more than 400,000. Pates fired 135,000 on the {j-Diamonds}{3-Spades}{2-Diamonds} flop, and Seitz immediately shoved in for about 200,000. Bjerga folded, and Pates called just as quickly.

Pates: {k-Diamonds}{k-Spades}
Seitz: {q-Hearts}{q-Clubs}

Seitz needed a third queen, but the turn was a {6-Clubs} and the river a {5-Hearts}.

William Vincent II Eliminated in 7th Place ($12,660)

Level 24 : 12,000/24,000, 4,000 ante
William Vincent - 7th Place
William Vincent - 7th Place

Dan Shogren raised to 103,000 in middle position and called the all-in shove of William Vincent, who had a stack of 204,000 in the small blind.

Shogren: {k-Hearts}{k-Clubs}
Vincent: {6-Clubs}{6-Spades}

"Sixes in seat 6," Vincent said. "It's gotta come."

A flop of {j-Hearts}{4-Clubs}{7-Hearts} brought little help.

"I'd take a five," Vincent said.

The dealer burned and turned the {8-Hearts}, bringing a few more outs for Vincent, though a heart wouldn't help now.

"Still take a five."

A {k-Spades} helped Shogren, though, and he took the pot with his set.

Dennis Stevermer
Dennis Stevermer

Dennis Stevermer bet 150,000 on fourth street on a board of {a-Diamonds}{a-Clubs}{k-Clubs}{k-Spades} against Ken Pates, who called. On the {j-Hearts} river, Stevermer barreled again for 300,000, and Pates quickly called. Stevermer showed {a-Hearts}{10-Clubs} for aces full, while Pates had {k-}{j-} for kings full.

Ben Marsh - 6th Place
Ben Marsh - 6th Place

Ben Marsh completed from the small blind. Ervin Bjerga made it 135,000 to go from the big, and Marsh shoved all in. Bjerga got a count, and told it was 444,000 more, he announced a call.

Bjerga: {a-Spades}{5-Clubs}
Marsh: {7-Clubs}{6-Clubs}

Bjerga had caught Marsh making a move, and a board of {9-Spades}{10-Spades}{q-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}{3-Spades} kept Bjerga's ace-high in front.

Level 25 : 15,000/30,000, 4,000 ante
Dan Shogren - 5th Place
Dan Shogren - 5th Place

Dan Shogren raised from the small blind, only to see Dennis Stevermer three-bet to 200,000 in the big. Shogren pushed all in, and Stevermer called.

Stevermer: {a-Diamonds}{j-Clubs}
Shogren: {a-Clubs}{k-Spades}

Shogren was in a dominating position, but the tables turned on the {4-Hearts}{j-Diamonds}{7-Clubs} flop, giving Stevermer jacks. A {2-Spades} turned, and a third jack ({j-Spades}) sealed the win for Stevermer.

Steve Vang Eliminated in 4th Place ($24,361)

Level 26 : 20,000/40,000, 5,000 ante
Steve Vang - 4th Place
Steve Vang - 4th Place

Ervin Bjerga raised to 80,000 under the gun, and Steve Vang pushed in for 307,000 in the big blind. Bjerga called.

Bjerga: {q-Spades}{j-Hearts}
Vang: {k-Hearts}{10-Clubs}

The {j-Clubs}{9-Spades}{8-Spades} flop gave Bjerga a leading pair, but he still had plenty of outs to fade as Vang had a straight draw and an overcard. Running {4-Spades} and {4-Hearts} hit the board, and Vang is done in fourth.

Pates Doubles Through Bjerga in Massive Pot

Level 26 : 20,000/40,000, 5,000 ante
Ken Pates
Ken Pates

A raising war took place between Ken Pates and Ervin Bjerga after the elimination of Steve Vang. Pates made it 300,000 to go, Bjerga raised to 700,000, and Pates shoved all in. Bjerga called.

Bjerga: {7-Diamonds}{7-Spades}
Pates: {q-Hearts}{q-Spades}

Pates pumped his fist as the dealer spread a flop of {q-Diamonds}{j-Clubs}{10-Spades}, giving him a set. The {2-Spades} turn meant Bjerga was drawing dead.

Ervin Bjerga Eliminated in 3rd Place ($30,305)

Level 26 : 20,000/40,000, 5,000 ante
Ervin Bjerga - 3rd Place
Ervin Bjerga - 3rd Place

Ervin Bjerga bumped it up to 90,000 on the button, and Ken Pates made it 290,000 in the big blind. Bjerga announced all in and was snap-called.

Bjerga: {6-Clubs}{5-Clubs}
Pates: {k-Diamonds}{k-Spades}

Bjerga had made his stand with suited connectors but was miles behind the cowboys of Pates. A {j-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds} helped Bjerga a bit with a gutshot, but a {k-Hearts} turn closed off backdoor possibilities by giving Pates a set. The river brought the {q-Spades}, and the tournament is now heads up.

Dennis Stevermer
Dennis Stevermer

On the first hand of heads up, Ken Pates raised to 140,000, and Dennis Stevermer made it 350,000. Pates called, and he called a continuation-bet of 500,000 on the {3-Spades}{4-Diamonds}{7-Hearts} flop. Both players checked the {j-Hearts}, and Stevermer snap-shoved on the {k-Diamonds} river. Pates folded, and stacks are now about equal.

Dennis Stevermer Eliminated in 2nd Place ($48,721)

Dennis Stevermer - 2nd Place
Dennis Stevermer - 2nd Place

On fourth street, the board read {k-Spades}{j-Hearts}{6-Spades}{2-Hearts} when Dennis Stevermer bet 200,000. Ken Pates raised to 600,000, and Stevermer pushed all in. Pates made the call.

"I'm on a draw," Stevermer announced as he got out of his seat, throwing down {5-Hearts}{3-Hearts} for a gutshot and a flush draw. "Good call."

Pates flipped {k-Diamonds}{q-Spades} for top pair. The two awaited the river card, and the dealer placed the {6-Diamonds} on the felt, pairing the board and keeping Pates' kings best. The tournament director counted down stacks, and Pates had his opponent covered by about 100,000. He embraced the small crowd that had gathered on the rail for him before shaking Stevermer's hand and accepting his congratulations.
