Day 1b Started

Day 1b Begins at Noon

MSPT
MSPT

Yesterday, 154 entrants made up the Day 1a flight with 29 players making it through to Day 2. Today's flight will begin at noon local time. Today's field will also play 14 40-minute levels and bag up around 10 p.m. local time.

The MSPT FireKeepers event in May drew 614 runners, so a big crowd is expected today. A lot of the players seem to want to qualify before Saturday, in order to watch the Michigan vs. Michigan State football game. Tomorrow's flight will also start at noon and the three flights will combine Sunday at 11 a.m.

Today's players will be chasing Mike Ross (311,500) and Bill Rogers (287,000), and with a big crowd expected today, it is likely that the chip leader from today's flight will enter Day 2 with more chips than that. Stay tuned for updates and chip counts throughout the day.

Settling In

Level 1 : 50/100, 0 ante

It's been a pretty uneventful level so far. One player has already reentered, but for the most part it's been small pots with a couple chops.

Attisha Flops Trips, Rivers Boat

Level 2 : 75/150, 0 ante

Three players called a middle position raise and saw a flop of {a-Hearts}{a-Spades}{6-Diamonds}. The action checked to the raiser, who bet 675. Nash Attisha was the lone caller. The turn was the {7-Spades} and Attisha checked to the raiser again. The raiser made it 2,475 and Attisha called. The river was the {7-Hearts} and Attisha led out for 4,000. The raiser didn't take long and folded his hand by flicking each card into the muck. Attisha showed {a-}{q-} as he collected the pot.

Hope There's Morin Where That Came From

Level 2 : 75/150, 0 ante

Bob Morin called a three bet of 3,500 preflop. The flop came {a-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}{2-Clubs} and Morin checked to the three bettor, who also checked. Both players checked the {2-Hearts} on the turn and the {5-Hearts} on the river. The three bettor showed {q-}{q-} and Morin turned over {k-}{k-}, big hands for a pretty uneventful pot, but that is sort of the tone here early in the tournament.
