Shepsky Wins With Top Pair

Level 4 : 200/300, 300 ante

A player in eary position opened to 800 and was called by Matt Shepsky in middle position. Action folded around to the player on the button, who called, and the two blinds came along as well to take action five ways to the streets.

The flop fell {2-Clubs}{3-Clubs}{j-Diamonds} and action checked to Shepsky, who bet 900. The player on the button called and all three remaining players folded.

Action was then heads up for the turn {7-Hearts}, where Shepsky check-called a bet of 2,000 from the player on the button. The river then came {4-Hearts} and both players checked to take the hand to showdown.

Shepsky tabled {k-Spades}{j-Hearts} for top pair with a king kicker.

"King plays," said the player on the button, showing {j-Spades} face-up as he sent his hand to the muck.

Taylor Firebaugh was under the gun and opened the action with a raise to 800. Action made its way around to Dan Goepel, who called from the hijack, before a few more players folded. The big blind then came along for a three-way flop, which was {8-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}. All three players checked.

The turn came {3-Spades} and the big blind checked again. Firebaugh bet 1,400. Goepel called and the big blind folded to take action heads up to the river {8-Clubs}.

Firebaugh fired again, putting out a bet of 2,500. Goepel went into the tank for about 35 seconds and then sent his hand to the muck.

Ahmed Taleb was in early position and pumped it up to 800. Action then folded around to Bryan Skreens who called from the hijack. The cutoff also called, as did Travis Lauson, who was on the button. Next to act was the small blind and he became the fourth caller before the big blind got out of the way.

All five players checked the flop {4-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}{j-Spades} to bring the turn {2-Diamonds}. Action checked to Skreens and he made a bet of 1,500, which only Taleb called.

The river came {7-Clubs}. Taleb checked and Skreens fired another 4,000. Taleb thought for close to a minute and then made the call.

Skreens tabled {4-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}, getting a reaction from the table as Taleb mucked and the pot was sent his way.
