Kathy Liebert raised to 800 in middle position and was called by both of the blinds. The flop came and the action checked to Liebert who continued with a bet of 1,000. Both of her opponents called as they headed to the on the turn.
The action checked around this time and the completed the board. Carl Oman threw in a bet of 800 from the big blind which only Liebert called. Oman showed but Liebert held for a better two pair.
Katie Lindsay and Jeffrey Turton were left heads-up in a four-bet pot with a little over 10,000 already in the middle. The flop came and Turton led out with a bet of 4,000 from the small blind.
Lindsay responded by shoving all in from the cutoff which sent Turton into the tank for a couple of minutes. He eventually dumped his cards to the muck and Lindsay raked in a healthy pot.
Will Givens arrived late to his seat after blinding out for the first level of the day, but he's wasted little time recovering those chips plus many more already. Four players headed to a flop of for 800 apiece. The initial raiser led out with a bet of 1,500 and only Givens called from a couple of seats over.
The landed on the turn and Givens was faced with another bet of 5,500 which he quickly called again. The paired the board on the river and it was checked to Givens this time. He splashed in a bet of 20,000, putting his opponent to the test for his remaining 13,000 chips. He decided to lay his hand down and Givens raked in yet another pot.
Kristen Deardorff opened to 700 in early position and picked up a call from the player on her left. Ronald Scott three-bet to 3,800 on the button and Jason Schanbacher flat-called from the big blind. Deardorff and the other player both got out of the way.
The flop came and Schanbacher check-called a bet of 3,200 from Scott. The paired the board on the turn and Schanbacher checked again. Scott flicked in a bet of 6,000 only to have Schanbacher check-raise to 13,000. Scott reluctantly laid his hand down and Schanbacher added to his pile of chips.
The opening three levels have been completed and the players are going on their first 15-minute break of the day. The tournament clock currently shows a total of 170 entries for Day 1b with late registration open for another six levels.
Harrison Ashdown opened to 800 in early position and the cutoff three-bet to 3,000. The small blind flat-called and Ashdown responded by shoving all in for a little over 13,000. The cutoff quickly called and the small blind got out of the way.

The flop of looked promising for Ashdown who was looking for a double up. However, the and runout gave his opponent a flush, and Ashdown was eliminated.
The Mid-States Poker Tour (MSPT) is set to host an exciting event at Sycuan Casino in San Diego from September 15-25.
With over $570,000 guaranteed spread over 11 events, the United States Poker Championship will attract some large fields and large payouts. Each tournament will award a trophy on top of the money to the winners. Schedule Highlights
The Main Event has three Day 1 starting flights scheduled, one per day starting on the 22nd. All remaining players will return to Sycuan Casino on the 25th to play down to a winner.
On September 15, the series kicks off with the $360 Mystery Bounty event, a new phenomenon in tournament poker. Players draw mystery bounty envelopes as opposed to the traditional set payout per bounty.
No-limit hold'em is the main game to be played during the MSPT United States Poker Championship, but it isn't the only game. There will be one pot-limit Omaha tournament, a one-day $250 buy-in contest with $100,000 guaranteed on September 16.
The series features an impressive mix of NLH games, including the Mystery Bounty, a $300 MSPT Tag Team Championship (September 20), and a $250 Seniors (50+) event on September 19.
Players can earn their way into the Main Event for as little as $135 via satellite tournaments on September 19 and 22 where one in 10 players receive a ticket. There will also be multiple $265 buy-in satellites available starting on the 21st.
