Greenblatt Leaves Sowell Drawing Dead

Level 17 : 3,000/6,000, 1,000 ante

With the board reading {7-Spades}{6-Spades}{4-Clubs}{5-Spades} and around 50,000 already in the middle, Jeff Sowell tossed in a bet and then called the all in from Alex Greenblatt. The all in amount was for 218,000 and Greenblatt gave Sowell the bad news.

Greenblatt turned a flush with {q-Spades}{10-Spades} and Sowell was already drawing dead holding just a straight with {j-Diamonds}{8-Spades}. The insignificant {a-Spades} landed on the river and Greenblatt was rewarded with the double up.

Bozkurt Doubles with Queens

Level 17 : 3,000/6,000, 1,000 ante

Gary Sixkiller raised it up 20,000 and Ekrem Bozkurt three-bet to 115,000 directly to his left. The action folded back to Sixkiller who quickly made the call.

The flop came {9-Clubs}{4-Clubs}{4-Hearts} and Sixkiller check-called the all in of Bozkurt for an additional 69,000. Bozkurt turned over {q-Spades}{q-Clubs} while Sixkiller needed to pair up with {a-Diamonds}{k-Diamonds}. The turn was the {2-Diamonds} and the river brought the {8-Diamonds} securing the double up for Bozkurt.

Eskandar Binks the Ace

Level 17 : 3,000/6,000, 1,000 ante

"I've laid it down three times already," Patrick Eskandar declared, turning over {a-}{q-} after shoving his last 40,000 or so in and being at risk against another player's {k-}{k-}.

Eskandar picked the right time to go with it, as after a bricky flop hit, an ace arrived on the turn to secure him a double.

Elpayaa is the First to Climb Over 1,000,000

Level 17 : 3,000/6,000, 1,000 ante
Joe Elpayaa
Joe Elpayaa

Joon Cho was down to just 27,000 and he stuck in the last of it from middle position. Salvador Cervantes called from the hijack and Joe Elpayaa three-bet to 95,000 on the button. The blinds folded and Cervantes called to create a heads-up side pot.

The dealer fanned the flop of {j-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}{8-Diamonds} and both players checked to the {10-Spades} on the turn. Two more checks and the {3-Clubs} landed on the river. Cervantes and Elpayaa decided to check it down and all hands were tabled. Cervantes showed {k-Diamonds}{q-Clubs} while Elpayaa had {a-Clubs}{8-Clubs} for two pair. Cho had nothing to put up a fight with {k-Spades}{5-Spades} and he was eliminated as Elpayaa dragged in both pots.
