Jones Makes Eight-Seven Work

Level 2 : 100/100, 100 ante
Stacey Jones in Day 1a action
Stacey Jones in Day 1a action

Three players invested 1,300 on a {7-Spades}{3-Hearts}{j-Spades} flop to see the {9-Diamonds} fall off on the turn. A player in early position checked over to the hijack, who bet 2,200. Stacey Jones called on the button, and the early position player tanked for a bit before tossing in a call as well.

All three players checked the {j-Clubs} river, and Jones said, "Well, I got a seven," before turning over {8-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}. Both of his opponents mucked, prompting a player at the table to say, "Seven-eight's a winner!" to a grinning Jones.

Crow Doubles With Top Set

Level 3 : 100/200, 200 ante

There was around 20,000 in the pot on a board of {10-Hearts}{2-Clubs}{7-Spades}{4-Diamonds}{6-Spades} and Mike Crow was all in from the cutoff. His opponent was on his direct right. He had checked and was now facing action.

"Two pair," said the hijack. "Call," then added as he tabled {6-Hearts}{2-Hearts} for a rivered sixes up.

Crow tabled {10-Diamonds}{10-Spades} for top set and his opponent remarked about the strength of the hand. Crow then pushed his chips forward to be counted for the double. They totaled 16,200 and his opponent paid him off, again wishing him a nice hand in the process.

Smith Left With Crumbs

Level 3 : 100/200, 200 ante

Chad Smith bet 500 from under the gun on a {10-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}{q-Spades} flop, and was called by the player next to act, as well as a player in middle position, while three other opponents quickly ducked out of the way.

The {9-Hearts} fell on the turn, and action checked to the middle position player, who bet 1,100. Smith and the player next to act both called.

Action checked to the middle position player again on the {j-Spades} river, and he bet 2,000. Smith called, leaving himself just 1,600 behind, and after the other player folded, the middle position player tabled {k-Diamonds}{9-Spades} for a king-high straight. Smith shook his head and mucked.

Ray Wins With Flop Raise

Level 3 : 100/200, 200 ante

There was about 3,500 in the pot as the dealer fanned a flop of {7-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds} and a player in early position checked. A middle-position player bet 1,400 and the cutoff called, putting action on Brian Ray, who was on the button. He threw out a raise of 6,000.

The early-position player quickly folded, putting action on the initial flop aggressor in middle position. He thought for a few moments and folded behind, prompting a quick fold from the cutoff as well, resulting in the pot being sent Ray's way.

Kelly's Aces Hold For a KO

Level 3 : 100/200, 200 ante

A player raised to 500 from early position, and was called by a player in middle position, as well as the hijack. Eric Kelly three-bet to 2,800 in the big blind, and the early position player called, as did the middle position player, while the hijack folded.

Kelly bet 3,800 on the {q-Spades}{9-Clubs}{q-Diamonds} flop, and the early position player jammed for 8,100. The middle position player folded, and Kelly thought for a few moments before committing calling chips.

Opponent: {j-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}
Eric Kelly: {a-Spades}{a-Hearts}

Kelly was looking to dodge the straight draw of his opponent, and he did just that on the {4-Spades} turn and the {j-Spades} river to earn the elimination.

Davis Fires Two

Level 3 : 100/200, 200 ante

Brian Davis was on the button and opened to 600. He received calls from both blinds, taking action three ways to a flop of {5-Clubs}{a-Hearts}{j-Clubs}. Action checked to Davis and he made an 800-chip continuation-bet. Both players called again.

The turn came {10-Spades} and both blinds checked to Davis again. He continued, firing another 2,300 forward. Both players in the blinds quickly folded and he took down the pot.

Bell Won't Be Bluffed

Level 3 : 100/200, 200 ante

Ronald Bell checked a {10-Spades}{q-Hearts}{10-Clubs}{a-Clubs} board from the hijack, and his opponent in the cutoff bet 3,000 into a pot of 3,500. Bell flicked in a call.

The {7-Hearts} hit the river, and Bell checked again. The cutoff bet 5,000, and Bell thought for a few moments, holding a single 5k chip in his hand, before finally placing it in the pot.

"You're good. King-high," the cutoff told Bell, flashing his {k-Clubs}{8-Clubs}. Bell turned over {a-Hearts}{q-Spades} for top two pair and took down the pot.

His opponent thought for some time before asking if he had hit a flush. After asking, he threw in chips to call.

Sample tabled his hand to confirm a flush, showing {a-Spades}{10-Spades}. His opponent showed {4-Diamonds}{3-Spades} for a turned straight and paid off the remaining chips he owed as Sample sat awaiting payment for his double.

Minkin Runs Into a Set

Level 3 : 100/200, 200 ante

With the full {9-Diamonds}{2-Clubs}{k-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}{a-Spades} board already on the felt, Steven Woody announced a bet of 12,000, but began placing all of his 17,500 stack into the pot after doing so, which was more than the 12,000 he had declared. Kelly Minkin, his opponent in the hand, confirmed that the amount bet was 12,000, then grabbed twelve yellow chips from her stack and called.

Woody turned over {2-Diamonds}{2-Hearts} for bottom set, causing Minkin to raise a brow in surprise before slowly pushing her hand to the muck.
