Level 9 : 1,000/2,000, 2,000 ante
Matthew Brunskole
Matthew Brunskole

Day 1c of the $1,100 Playground1000 $1 Million Guaranteed event has come to an end, for the third of four live starting days.

Matthew Brunskole led the field for the majority of the day and never looked back. He bagged a whopping 659,700 chips, good for the top stack today and second overall going into Day 2, pending flight 1d tomorrow at Noon.

The next-biggest stack belongs to Rong Xu with 546,300. He is joined by Olivier Badeau (518,800), Giovanni Massa (514,700) and Shawn Daigle (490,500) to round out the top five stacks.

The day began with 100 players and the total number of entries quickly grew to 288 by the end of the night. Of those 288 entries, 40 were re-entries. A total of 150 players have advanced to Day 2 tomorrow at 5:00 p.m. local time, making up 339 players moving on between the online Day 1 and the three live Day 1's.

Notable players to advance from today's flight include Miguel Proulx (437,000), Tam Ho (408,200), 2010 WSOP Main Event Champion Jonathan Duhamel (308,500), Senthuran Vijayaratnam (306,500), David Guay (305,000), Peter Chien (256,000), Patrick St-Onge (170,100), Jean-Philippe Piquette (160,000), Carla Sabini (143,600), Said Michailidis (140,000), Cassidy Battikha (59,700) and Jason James (46,800).

While a little more than half of the field advanced, that leaves a good chunk that didn't. Familiar faces to hit the rail today included Jason Lavallee, Michael Korovine, Bob T, June Jenkins, Debra Holman, Pablo Mariz, Sylvain Siebert, Eric Afriat, Joe Tehan and Jean-Francois Bouchard.

The final flight kicks off tomorrow at noon and is a turbo, scheduled to complete within four hours. Day 2 will pick up at 5:00 p.m. tomorrow and PokerNews will be on the ground to see who can take it a step further to make it to Day 3.

David Guay Busts Tina S

Level 8 : 800/1,600, 1,600 ante
David Guay
David Guay

A player in middle position raised to 3,500 and David Guay called from the cutoff. Tina S was on the button and moved all-in for 47,000. The middle-position player thought for a moment but eventually folded. Guay looked at the tournament clock and then back at his hand a couple of times before eventually calling.

Tina was at risk with {q-Clubs}{j-Spades} but was very much behind Guay's {a-Hearts}{q-Diamonds}. "I had ace-ten of spades" said the middle-position player.

The flop came {a-Diamonds}{9-Spades}{8-Spades} and Guay flopped a pair of aces. The turn was the {6-Diamonds} and Tina was drawing dead to the {q-Hearts} on the river, sending her to the rail.

Guay now has over triple the starting stack with just a couple of levels to go in the day.

Siebert Still Stacking

Level 4 : 300/600, 600 ante
Sylvain Siebert
Sylvain Siebert

Few players around Playground seem to be able to build a stack quite as quickly as Sylvain Siebert. Though his Ricky Bobby-like method sometimes does not work out, it is great to watch.

In a recent three-way pot, Siebert bet 30,000 on the turn of a {4-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}{9-Clubs}{2-Diamonds} board with about 75,000 in the middle.

One of his opponents moved all-in for just less than a full raise and the other player folded. Siebert snap-called putting his opponent at risk.

Opponent: {8-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}
Siebert: {4-Clubs}{4-Hearts}

The {k-Hearts} fell on the river and Siebert scooped another significant pot.

Jonathan Duhamel
Jonathan Duhamel

With a massive pot in the middle, Jonathan Duhamel moved all-in on the river of a {9-Clubs}{8-Hearts}{6-Clubs}{2-Spades}{a-Diamonds} board and was called by his heads-up opponent.

Duhamel tabled {a-Hearts}{a-Spades} and his opponent nodded in defeat revealing {k-Diamonds}{k-Hearts}. Duhamel now joins the current leaders on top of the chip counts.

Vijayaratnam Off to a Good Start

Level 1 : 150/300, 300 ante
Senthuran Vijayaratnam
Senthuran Vijayaratnam

For the second day in a row, Senthuran Vijayaratnam has given himself an early boost in the chip counts.

On the river of a {10-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}{3-Diamonds}{2-Hearts}{2-Clubs} board, Vijayaratnam faced a bet of 11,500 from his heads-up opponent. Vijayaratnam quickly called and his opponent tabled {a-Spades}{q-Hearts} for just ace-high. Vijayaratnam turned over {5-Spades}{5-Hearts} and his pair of fives was good.

Vijayaratnam was the chipleader on Day 1b by the time the second break rolled around but did not bag chips at the end of the night.
