Welcome Back To The Final Day Of WPT Marrakech!

It's the last day of WPT Marrakech, there's 17 players left with Ludovic Lacay still the chip leader holding 1,389,000. Almost two years to the day, the Frenchman came 2nd in WPT Barcelona, can he go one step further this time? Or will Yury Kerzhapkin, Benny Spindler or one of our other players stop him and claim the title for their own?

Play will begin in about 20 minutes or so, and unlike other WPT's, this final table will be nine-handed instead of six-handed.

Start As You Mean To Carry On

Almost immediately and Ludovic Lacay has increased his stack to 1,600,000 at the expense of Yuri Kerzhapkin.

The Russian called 44,000 on a flop of {5-Diamonds} {4-Clubs} {8-Diamonds} before both players checked the {6-Spades} turn. The river was the {2-Clubs} and Kerzhapkin checked again, Lacay bet 82,000 this time and was called.

The Frenchman showed {K-Clubs} {K-Diamonds}, good enough and Kerzhapkin is down to 660,000.

Hapless Kerzhapkin

Disaster for the Russian as his stack has shrunk even more. Patrick Meurisse raised preflop to 26,000 on the button and Yury Kerzhapkin stuck out 200,000 from the small blind. Meurisse called all-in with {A-Spades} {10-Clubs} and Kerzhapkin turned over {A-Hearts} {7-Hearts}.

The board came {5-Diamonds} {10-Hearts} {4-Clubs} {5-Clubs} {J-Spades}, Meurisse up to 420,000 and Kerzhapkin down to 450,000.

Azziz Abdelmalki Eliminated in 17th Place (€13,136)

Christophe Savary started the action with an early-position raise to 40,000, and Azziz Abdelmalki made the smooth call a few seats over. In the hijack, Benjamin Pollak stuck in a healthy three-bet, good enough to fold Savary out of the way. Abdelmalki was not so easily pacified though. After some deliberation, he made the call all in for his last ~200,000 chips. With his tournament life on the line, the cards were turned up.

Showdown
Abdelmalki: {9-Clubs} {9-Diamonds}
Pollak: {Q-Spades} {Q-Clubs}

The flop was a pretty good miss for the at-risk player as it came {10-Hearts} {J-Clubs} {8-Spades}, giving him two shots at an open-ender. The turn missed with the {3-Diamonds}, though, and the {5-Diamonds} that filled out the board was no help either.

Failing to get over the hump, Azziz Abdelmalki becomes the first casualty of Day 3, walking away in 17th place.

Kerem Kiyak Eliminated In 16th (€13,136)

Kerem Kiyak - 16th Place
Kerem Kiyak - 16th Place
Kerem Kiyak raised to 28,000 from UTG, Yury Kerzhapkin called in early position before Ludovic Lacay made it 74,000 behind them. Kiyak called and Kerzhapkin passed.

The flop came {10-Clubs} {Q-Spades} {5-Hearts} and Kiyak shoved all-in. Lacay immediately snap-called with {Q-Hearts} {Q-Clubs} and Kiyak could only show a very far behind {A-Clubs} {6-Clubs}. The turn was the {7-Diamonds} and Kiyak was drawing dead, the {K-Hearts} river no respite.

Lacay has 1.95 million now, almost 25% of the chips in play.

Botond Builds Up

The last remaining Hungarian player, Balazs Botond has picked off a few chips from Yury Kerzhapkin.

Both checked the {Q-Clubs} {6-Clubs} {5-Hearts} flop before Botond called bets of 45,000 and 65,000 on the {7-Clubs} turn and {2-Diamonds} river.

Kerzhapkin mucked his hand at the end, tapping the table as Botond showed {Q-Diamonds} {10-Hearts}.
