Rees-Brennan Gets Quad-Dead

An early position raise saw Bennis Najib reraise the 12,000 bet to 35,000. Rory Rees-Brennan moved all-in for 54,000. The initial raiser folded and Najib called.

Najib: {K-Spades} {K-Diamonds}
Rees-Brennan: {J-Spades} {J-Diamonds}

A decisive {K-Hearts} {K-Clubs} {6-Diamonds} {9-Spades} {4-Spades} board left us with one less Irishman.

Lacay New Chip Leader

Ludovic Lacay raised to 12,500 before a player behind made it 30,000. Lacay then 4-bet to 86,000 and his opponent shoved.

Lacay had a slight grimace for a second before shrugging and calling.

Lacay: {K-?} {K-?}
Middle Position: {J-?} {J-?}

The board came {9-Hearts} {K-Hearts} {5-Diamonds} {3-Hearts} {J-Clubs} and Lacay took a huge pot and now has the chip lead with around 565,000.

Collopy Off to the Races

With the action folded around to the button, the player there opened the pot with a raise, and Jim Collopy moved all in for another 74,000 from the big blind. After some careful consideration, the raiser made the call, having Collopy just barely covered.

Collopy tabled {7-Clubs} {7-Hearts}, and he was racing for his tournament life against {A-Hearts} {9-Hearts}. "Okay!" he said as he stood from his chair. "We can do this!"

He was right. The dealer ran out a safe board of {10-Diamonds} {4-Hearts} {6-Spades} {2-Spades} {4-Spades}, and Collopy has notched a big double. His stack has been up and down like an amusement park ride today, and he now finds himself back close to 200,000 after that hold.

Bichon Bounced; Lacay Leapfrogging

Thomas Bichon - Out
Thomas Bichon - Out
WPT Cyprus champion Thomas Bichon got the rest of his middling stack into the pot before the flop with {A-Hearts} {J-Clubs}. Unfortunately, his hopes of taking two WPT titles this year would be put off for now by Ludovic Lacay and his {A-Clubs} {Q-Spades}.

Board: {5-Hearts} {9-Spades} {K-Spades} {2-Clubs} {6-Spades}

Lacay chalks up another one, and he is now building a fortress of chips. His stack of 700,000 puts him easily out in front of the field at this juncture.

Sa-Out

November Niner Antoine Saout has been knocked out. He made his move with {K-Spades} {6-Spades} but found {Q-?} {Q-?} and {A-?} {K-?} going to war behind him.

A {9-?} {4-?} {10-?} {Q-?} {J-?} board later and he was out as the player with big slick picked up a decent amount of chips.

Take a Haik

Eric Haik - Out
Eric Haik - Out
Benjamin Pollak opened with a middle-position raise, and Eric Haik moved all in from the cutoff seat. When it came back around the table, Pollak quickly called with {A-Diamonds} {A-Clubs} and the larger stack. Haik showed up {10-Diamonds} {10-Clubs}, in danger of being eliminated.

When the dealer ran a board of {K-Spades} {4-Spades} {7-Hearts} {2-Diamonds} {3-Diamonds}, that's just what transpired. Pollak's aces hold, and his newly-acquired chips boost his stack to a very healthy 540,000.

Collopy Collapses

Jim Collopy

Balazs Botond raised to 16,000 from the hijack before a short-stack pushed all-in for 43,000. Jim Collopy thought for a moment before flat-calling. Botond also called.

The flop came {A-Spades} {J-Clubs} {3-Hearts} and Collopy bet 36,000 to which Botond declared all-in.

Collopy got out of his chair and asked for a count, it was only 51,000 more and the American called tabling {Q-Diamonds} {Q-Spades} but finding Botond with {A-Diamonds} {J-Diamonds} while the short stack showed {A-Clubs} {J-Hearts}.

The turn was the {K-Spades} and the river the {9-Diamonds}.
