Three-Bet from Jager

Level 4 : 150/300, 50 ante

After a limp, a raise to 1,100 and a cold-call, the action got to Alexander Jager in the small blind and he made a three-bet to 3,000. The player in the big blind was somewhat confused as the cold-caller had a black T-5,000 chip and a 100 chip in front. "Is that just a flat call?" he asked the dealer and once that was confirmed, the cards went into the muck.

None of the opponents of Jager was willing to make any further move and the squeeze won the pot. The player on seat one had just busted and the chips went to Stuart Hulston, who is also up to almost three times the starting stack already.

Last Level to Register

Level 4 : 150/300, 50 ante

The first of three starting days at the Aspers Casino is in level four and that's the last chance to hop in today still, as the registration closes after exactly two hours of play. There will also be a short break at the end of the level as well and the number of participants has reached almost 200.

Akenhead Not Rusty Yet

Level 4 : 150/300, 50 ante

The break from live poker hasn't had any influence on the poker skills of James Akenhead, as just highlighted in a hand that won him a decent pot. The Brit raised to 700 from early position and received three callers. On a flop of {2-Clubs} {10-Clubs} {2-Hearts}, the action was checked to Akenhead and he made it 1,750 to go. Only one opponent on the button called and the {8-Hearts} turn was checked through.

Akenhead then bet the {K-Spades} river for 4,350 and his opponent gave it some thought before calling for half of his remaining stack. Akenhead turned over the {A-Hearts} {K-Diamonds} and that was good enough to scoop the pot and leave the player on the button short with 15 big blinds.

First Break on Day 1a

Level 4 : 150/300, 50 ante

Once the current hand is finished, all players have been asked to leave the tournament area and head into a 23-minute break. Some of them take advantage of the table tennis plate in the partypoker lounge and battle it out away from the poker tables.

Assorted Bigger Stacks

Level 4 : 150/300, 50 ante

More than 30 players have been eliminated within the first four 30-minute levels and the screens still show 192 entrants for the first flight. Out of those, we have caught some of the bigger stacks and notables below.

Bounty for Harrison

Level 5 : 200/400, 75 ante

The screens have been updated and revealed 150 players remaining. One of them with a bigger stack is Marc Jonathan Harrison, who called the four-bet shove of a short stack with {Q-Clubs} {Q-Hearts}. The opponent was at risk with {8-Diamonds} {8-Hearts} and got some sweat after the {10-Spades} {3-Diamonds} {10-Diamonds} {5-Diamonds} turn with a flush draw. However, Harrison would score the knockout with the {K-Clubs} river as final community card.

Kamel on the Rise

Level 5 : 200/400, 75 ante

Before the break, Tamer Kamel defended his big blind to see a flop of {A-Diamonds} {2-Diamonds} {4-Spades}. Both him and the opponent checked and Kamel then bet the {8-Clubs} turn, which was called. The Brit fired 2,000 after a {6-Diamonds} river and called the shove of 13,000 by the opponent with {4-Diamonds} {9-Diamonds} for a winning flush.

After the break, he just defended his big blind against a raise of Gabriel Tuna. Kamel then check-folded the {4-Diamonds} {Q-Clubs} {9-Diamonds} flop and flashed his {3-Diamonds} {3-Hearts}. The next hand he got involved in another pot and checked down the board of {7-Diamonds} {A-Clubs} {10-Diamonds} {Q-Clubs} {2-Hearts} after preflop raise. His opponent was not willing to give any action and also mucked when Kamel showed the {8-Hearts} {8-Diamonds} after the river.

193 Players for Day 1a

Level 5 : 200/400, 75 ante

The tournament staff has just verified that 193 players signed up for Day 1a, of which less then 150 currently remain. This level and another three are still scheduled before we know who is enjoying a decent start into this accumulator event.
