We just witnessed another amazing hand for Max Droege, who has flown all the way from Canada just to play in this event.
Majid Noubarian opened for 2,200, Droege raised to 4,600 and Vladimir Volov called. Action was now on Ali Baskan who moved all in forcing Noubarian to fold. Droege however went all in too and was excitedly out of his seat. Baskan told him to sit down as the dealer checked the bets. Back to Volov, and what was his decision? All in, and we had a three way all in.
Baskan had , Droege tabled and finally Volov showed the .
“One time.” Said Droege, using his one time. “Give me a queen.”
The board ran out . Droege got his wish, busted two players and is now sitting on a stack of over 160,000.
Jules Allam opened to 2,000 from early position before Ofer Stern made a small three-bet to 3,600 in late position. Ognjen Sekularac flat-called on the button and Allam also made the call.
The flop was, Allam checked and Stern shipped in about 25,000 effective (both his opponents had a little less than this). Sekularac folded but Allam called off
Stern:
Allam:
The turn and river made no difference and Stern jumped up to 85,000.
On a board of Tobias Peters checked and, Athan Cukurova, the original under the gun raiser, bet 6,800. Peters raised him to 15,700. Cukurova studied his opponent. Peters lowered his chair a notch. Did that tell Cukurova something? He made the call and we saw a turn card of . Peters led out for 24,600. It would cost Cukurova his tournament life to call. He declined and Peters scooped the pot.
On a flop of Serhil Leonichev bet 8,100 from the small blind, Alexandr Lakhov called as did Bernard Samaha. The turn was the . Leonichev and Lakhov checked and Samaha bet 18,000. Leonichev called and Lakhov folded so we went to the river with two players. The river brought the . Leonichev checked and Samaha bet a hefty 25,000. Leonichev thought for a long time. He could afford it out of his stack, but did he want to pay the price. He did but quickly mucked when Samaha showed for the flopped boat. Must be nice.
Seyed Ghavam just got caught by Olexander Gnatenko on the river. Ghavam had led out for 11,000 into a 20,000 pot with the board reading but Gnatenko made the call with and Ghavam quickly mucked.
Asaf Avci limped in early position. Alexsander Shcherbinin was having none of it though and made it 3,000 to go. Vladimir Serdcev called from the small blind and Droege, enjoying a last level massage, folded his big blind. Avci wasn’t going to fold and put in the extra 2,000.
A flop of didn’t entice any of the players to bet so we saw the turn . Checked to Shcherbinin, he made it 4,200. Serdcev, lying in wait in the small blind bumped it up to 10,200. Avci folded and after a dignified amount of time, Shcherbinin too released his cards.
