Friedlander To the Front

Level 15 : 1,000/2,000, 300 ante

Under the gun, Adam Levy opened the pot to 4,800, and he stepped right into a big bear trap. Two seats over, Brian Roberts flatted, and the action came to Gary Friedlander in the cutoff seat. He squeezed in a raise to 21,400 total, and Levy shoved in for his last 60,900. That sent Roberts deep into the tank, and he eventually settled on a call once again. Friedlander quickly shoved over the top, and Roberts reluctantly made the call again, his third call of the preflop betting round. This one put him all in for 117,000. With he and Levy both at risk, the cards were turned up:

Levy: {A-Diamonds} {K-Spades}
Roberts: {K-Diamonds} {K-Clubs}
Friedlander: {A-Hearts} {A-Spades}

"Roothlus" couldn't believe his timing, while table mate Steve Brecher has seen this before. Yesterday, it was he who had the aces in this exact spot, and they held to earn him a double knockout. Friedlander's aces held as well, the board running {10-Spades} {7-Hearts} {3-Hearts} {8-Diamonds} {7-Spades} to send two players out here early in Day 3.

It's Levy out in 18th place and Roberts in 17th, and Friedlander has vaulted himself into the lead with about 320,000.
