Patrick Ruth is having quite the day here in Choctaw. The Houston native told PokerNews a battle of the blinds led to an early double up for him.
He managed to flop bottom two pair and made the relatively easy call when the woman in the small blind shoved with an underpair.
Since then, he`s worked both aces and kings into a couple of decent pots without showdown and appears to at least be among the early leaders with triple the starting stack.

We passed by James Van Alstyne's table and saw a seat card in the spot where his chips were occupying. We gathered from the table that he was all in preflop holding pocket sevens and ran into pocket aces. The aces held and Van Alstyne was eliminated.

The player who busted Todd Brunson seems to be putting his chips to good use.
Shreveport, Louisiana`s Mark Burford was the man who did the deed and after turning two pair to sink Todd`s big slick, he`s continued chipping up.
While his former tablemates have taken to calling him a fish, Burford is swimming his way up the leader board with close to 60k.

Scotty Nguyen opened from under the gun to 1,200 and an opponent from middle position called. Action folded around and the blinds released. The flop came and Nguyen said, "Let's play easy, baby," and tossed out 1,200.
His opponent smiled and tossed in a call to see the turn. Nguyen put out 1,200 again and his opponent raised to 3,000.
"Why you gotta do that, baby?" Nguyen asked as he folded his hand.

Yet another Texan is quickly climbing the leader board here in Durant.
This time it`s Plano`s Chris Walker who ran up to the top of the counts when he got it in with an ace-high diamond flush draw against top pair and got there.
At one point he had it up over 60k, but a yacht sunk his boat in a 25,000 chip pot and he`s now holding steady above the 50k mark.
