Musumeci Straightened Out

Amanda Musumeci raised from under the gun and was called by both players in the blinds, leading to a {9-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}{5-Spades} flop.

The small blind checked it to the big blind who bet 700. Only Musumeci came along to see the {7-Clubs} turn which both checked. The {A-Diamonds} hit the river and the big blind checked. Musumeci bet 1,100, but was met with a check-raise to 3,000 by the big blind. After a few moments Musumeci called, but mucked when the big blind tabled {8-Hearts}{6-Clubs} for a straight.

Another Former Champ

We apologize if we missed him in the earlier flight, but we've just stumbled across another of our old pals from the WSOPC winners' photos.

Seneca Easley put on a fantastic performance in Rincon last season, going from chip leader to short stack at the final table, then coming back to beat Shaun Walker heads-up for the win. That title was good for more than $70,000 and a shiny gold ring, and Easley has bolstered his record with another four Circuit cashes and a WPT cash in the meantime.

Brady Off To Better Start

The first flight didn't go as planned for Matt Brady as an early lost pot left him with a short stack for several levels. It's a different story in the night flight for him after he won a small pot and is up to about 26,000.

Brady opened to 325 from middle position and was called by the player in the small blind. The flop fell {J-Clubs}{7-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds} and it was checked to Brady who bet 250. A call from his opponent led to both checking the {2-Spades} turn. The {4-Hearts} completed the board and the small blind bet 425. Brady called and upon seeing his opponent turn over {A-Hearts}{Q-Hearts} for a pair of fours with an ace, Brady tabled {3-Hearts}{2-Hearts} for fours and deuces to win the pot.

Break Dance

Level 9 : 400/800, 100 ante

That's three levels down, six more to go tonight. Ah but first, a ten-minute break. We heard a few people complaining about the shortened break on their way out the door, but floorman Dennis was having none of it.

"There's half the field tonight," he said flatly, "and y'all guys gotta get back here at noon."

He's right, and his Texas drawl means business too. With that, Dennis dismissed the room, and the action will recommence in 10 minutes.

Ebony's Ivories

"Does anyone mind if I film you?" Ebony Kenney asked her table earlier with a big smile. The table naturally wanted to know the details, and Kenney went on to explain that she's in the semifinals of qualification for a TV reality show, and she's been told to film herself at work. "Please?" she asked with a smile that could win over even the staunchest of players.

They agreed, as you do when an attractive woman with an intoxicating smile asks you for a favor.

A few minutes later, we watched Kenney do some straight-faced work in this pot. It began with the cutoff opening to 600, and Huy Nguyen flatted on the button. Kenney squeezed in a reraise to 1,525 from the small blind, but the cutoff came right back with another raise to 3,900 total. That forced Nguyen out of the way, but Kenney came along with the call to see the flop.

It brought {4-Clubs} {A-Spades} {6-Spades} and two quick checks, and Kenney led out with 5,025 on the {J-Spades} turn. Mr. Cutoff called that bet, but it's as far as he could go. Kenney bet 7,700 on the {10-Hearts} river, and her opponent tanked and folded his hand.

With that chip boost, Kenney has worked her stack up over the 30,000-chip mark.

Burbick Jacked Up

Action folded to Corey Burbick and he raised to 400 in the hijack. He was called by the players in the cutoff and small blind, landing a {J-Clubs}{10-Spades}{5-Hearts} flop to the board. The small blind checked it to Burbick who bet 700. The cutoff ducked out, but the small blind called to see the {7-Clubs} turn.

It was the same story with the small blind check-calling 1,600 from Burbick, delivering the {A-Hearts} on the river. Another checked led to another Burbick bet, this one for 3,500. The small blind called immediately, but mucked when Burbick tabled {J-Hearts}{J-Spades}.

Karp Wins Race Against Bell

Steve Karp opened to 500 from the hijack and was met with calls from Lee Childs on the button and the player in the small blind. Chris Bell, from the big blind, three-bet to 2,200. Karp wasn't going anywhere as he four-bet to 5,100. Childs and the small blind kicked it in, putting the action back on Bell. A five-bet to 15,100 ensued with Karp committing the rest of his stack - 17,575 to make it six bets.

"Ace-king," said Bell while sliding in the calling chips.

"Good, didn't feel like aces or kings," replied Karp.

Karp: {J-Clubs}{J-Hearts}
Bell: {A-Clubs}{K-Diamonds}

Karp won the race as the board came down {Q-Clubs}{3-Hearts}{3-Spades}{9-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}.
