Board Watching Along the Boardwalk

Level 2 : 50/100, 0 ante

The big board is showing more than 180 players have taken seats for tonight's second Day 1 flight.

There were a total of 304 entries in the earlier session, with just over half of them — 153 to be exact — making it through to tomorrow's Day 2.

Kranz Can't Call River

Level 2 : 50/100, 0 ante

Rachel Kranz was heads up out of position on a flop of {a-Spades}{6-Hearts}{2-Clubs} when she fired out 1,100. The player called, and the turn brought the {8-Hearts}. Kranz kept the foot on the gas with a bet of 2,500, and again, her opponent made the call.

When the river brought the {9-Clubs}, Kranz slowed down and checked, and her opponent took advantage of it by betting out 3,425. After about 20 seconds of thought, Kranz shook her head, and kicked her cards to the dealer.

After that pot, Kranz fell to 13,000.

The Bet Was Reasonable, the Start Improbable

Level 2 : 50/100, 0 ante

We came upon a three-way hand with the board showing {7-Spades}{7-Diamonds}{3-Spades}{3-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds} and about 5,000 in the middle. Andy Jiang had only just taken his seat and was playing his first hand, and he led with a bet of 2,050.

The action on Sirous Jamshidi, he thought for a while before calling, then the third opponent sitting to Jamshidi's left called as well. Jiang then tabled his hand — {7-Clubs}{7-Hearts}. Quads on his first hand!

"If the bet was more than that... easy fold," said Jamshidi as Jiang collected the chips. "The bet was very reasonable."

Meanwhile Jiang called to a friend at another table to tell him of his fortunate first hand. "I'm busting for sure now," he added with a grin.

Late Arrivals

Level 3 : 75/150, 0 ante

A couple more late arrivals to report as we begin Level 3.

Christian Harder is here, hoping to add further to his more than $2.5 million in career tourney earnings. And frequent Atlantic City-casher Daniel Wach has taken a seat as well. Wach has had a collection of scores over the last year or so at the Borgata, including a big $200,793 take-away for finishing second in a $500 NLHE Re-Entry event there last fall.

Frangos Outkicked

Level 3 : 75/150, 0 ante

We didn't catch the action, but as we walked over to the table, we saw that on a nine high board, Nick Frangos had tabled {a-}{j-}. However, it was no good as his opponent flipped over {a-}{k-} for a better ace high. That pot knocked Frangos down to 17,000.

If you are reading Nick Frangos and know the name, but can't quite place the face, it is because he hasn't been around much the past few years. Frangos calls Atlantic City home, but hasn't recorded a cash at the WSOP in Las Vegas since 2009. Frangos first caught fame in 2004 when he final tabled the televised $5,000 buy in Stud Championship, taking home over $54,000 for his efforts.

Cherish Cut Down Quite A Bit

Level 3 : 75/150, 0 ante

We haven't seen any hands that have helped cause the damage, but we noticed that Cherish Andrews's stack has taken quite a hit. She started with 20,000, and before the first break, she is down to 7,000. She still has plenty of time to turn it around however, as she still has almost 50 big blinds.

Israelashvili Shoves, Shut Out

Level 3 : 75/150, 0 ante

There will be no fourth straight WSOP-C Caesars Atlantic City Main Event final table for Roland Israelashvili, as his second attempt today has met a swift end halfway through Level 3.

In Israelashvili's last hand, a player limped from middle position, another raised from the cutoff, then Israelashvili pushed all in from the button. The blinds and limper folded, and Israelashvili's lone opponent quickly called, turning over {Q-Hearts}{Q-Clubs}. "I'll take it," said Israelashvili as he tabled his {A-Spades}{K-Hearts}.

The community cards came jack-high — {4-Spades}{J-Diamonds}{9-Spades}{6-Clubs}{6-Hearts} — and Israelashvili wished everyone good luck before heading out the door.

Bowker Busts In Weird Hand

Level 3 : 75/150, 0 ante

What started out as an average pot turned into an absolute monster pot on the river. Kyle Bowker was heads up with his opponent on a board that read {q-Diamonds}{j-Spades}{j-Clubs}{10-Clubs}{9-Hearts}. Here's what we saw when we got to the table. There was about 1,600 in the middle, Bowker had bet out 400, and his opponent had moved all in....for 13,000!

Bowker was clearly confused by the decision, and was softly talking to himself throughout the tank. Eventually, he put the rest of his 9,000 into the middle, and his opponent tabled {j-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds} for a full house. Bowker shook his head, mucked his cards, and headed to the rail.
