Harder Plays Executioner

Level 21 : 4,000/8,000, 1,000 ante

Christian Harder has been fairly quiet throughout the day. He has maintained a solid stack, but was never involved in any big hands really before the money bubble. However, that has quickly changed, as he knocked out players on back to back hands.

In the first hand, Harder raised it up under the gun, and Carl Restifo was the lone caller in the small blind. The flop came down all hearts, {4-Hearts}{3-Hearts}{2-Hearts}, and Restifo announced all in for about 100,000. Harder instantly called, and when the cards were tabled, it was clear why he called so quickly.

Harder: {a-Hearts}{k-Hearts}
Restifo: {5-Clubs}{5-Spades}

Harder had flopped the second nuts, and Restifo would need runner runner to survive the hand. However, when the {8-Spades} hit the turn, he was drawing dead. The meaningless river came the {4-Diamonds}, and Harder took the hand down.

On the next hand, Kenneth Stacy moved all in for his last 15,000. Gregory Burns made the call, as did Harder in the big blind. The flop came {3-Clubs}{6-Spades}{10-Diamonds}, and Burns fired out 25,000. Harder clicked it back to 62,000, and Burns elected to fold his hand. The cards were table, and again, Harder was well out in front.

Harder: {10-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}
Stacy: {4-Diamonds}{k-Diamonds}

Harder would again just need to fade runner runner, and when the {8-Clubs} hit the turn, Harder had the hand secured. The {10-Clubs} on the river gave him an unnecessary full house, and when the dust settled on the two hands, Harder had jumped all the way up to 350,000.

Ashkenazi Ousts Liberta

Level 21 : 4,000/8,000, 1,000 ante

After a short-stacked Joseph Liberta pushed all in for 95,000 from early position, Ido Ashkenazi reraised all in from a couple of seats over for 218,000.

It folded back around to Hend Matthews in the big blind, the action pausing for a while at Patrick Houchins in the cutoff seat who thought a while before letting his hand go. Matthews then tanked for some time before finally emerging with a call.

Matthews: {J-Diamonds}{J-Spades}
Liberta: {8-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}
Ashkenazi: {K-Spades}{K-Hearts}

Three pocket pairs, and after the community cards came {3-Spades}{A-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}, Ashkenazi's kings had held to knock out Liberta in 41st and take a big chunk from Matthews's stack as well.

Wallace Out, 36 Remain

Level 21 : 4,000/8,000, 1,000 ante

Sean Wallace has been eliminated in 37th place. All in with {A-Hearts}{Q-Hearts} versus the {K-Hearts}{10-Hearts} of Hend Matthews, a ten flopped to pair Matthews's hand, and she was able to fade both straight and flush draws to knock out Wallace.

They are now down to 36 players, gathered around four tables.

Walker Busts Inselberg

Level 21 : 4,000/8,000, 1,000 ante

Leo Walker came in for a raise in the cutoff, and David Inselberg moved all in for his last 75,000. It got back around to Walker, and he tanked for about 30 seconds before tossing in the call.

Inselberg: {a-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}
Walker: {a-Clubs}{j-Spades}

The flop kept Walker out in front, as it came down {k-Spades}{7-Diamonds}{10-Spades}. The {9-Diamonds} gave Inselberg more hope, as a diamond on the river would now do it for him. However, the {3-Clubs} hit the river, and Walker collected the bounty, upping his stack to 540,000 in the process.

Harder Out

Level 21 : 4,000/8,000, 1,000 ante

Christian Harder has been eliminated in 35th place. On his last hand he shoved the button with {A-}{5-}, but unfortunately for him ran into an opponent waking up with {A-}{K-} in the blinds, and when the board didn't improve Harder's hand, he was eliminated.

Michalek Knocks Out Houchins, Now Second In Chips

Level 21 : 4,000/8,000, 1,000 ante

"I'm drawing dead." These were the words from Patrick Houchins after his shove on a {7-Diamonds}{3-Spades}{9-Spades} flop was called by Norman Michalek. Houchins held {k-Hearts}{q-Hearts}, but he had no hope, as Michalek held {k-Diamonds}{k-Clubs}. He could actually still catch a running nine and ten for a straight, but the turn and river were the {3-Hearts} and{q-Spades}. Houchins let out a sarcastic chuckle when he saw the queen hit the river, before wishing the table good luck, and heading to the payout desk.

Meanwhile, Michalek is our new chip leader after that pot, as he now has 780,000.

Tonking Taken Out in 33rd, Deutsch Done in 32nd

Level 21 : 4,000/8,000, 1,000 ante

Two more eliminations to report here in the fast-moving Level 21.

First it was William Tonking all in with {K-Spades}{4-Hearts} against an opponent's {J-Diamonds}{J-Hearts} and failing to improve when the board came {2-Spades}{8-Spades}{Q-Clubs}{9-Clubs}{7-Diamonds}.

Soon after Jason Deutsch was all in and at risk with {A-Diamonds}{J-Hearts} and up against Dave Fox's {A-Clubs}{K-Hearts}. The {10-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}{4-Hearts}{Q-Hearts}{5-Spades} wasn't enough for Deutsch, and he, too, hit the rail.

With about 10 minutes to go in Level 21, just 31 players remain.
