Carrion on a Roll

Prior to the level going up, Will Carrion opened for 8,000 from early position only to have a short-stacked opponent move all in for 58,000. Action folded back around to Carrion, who has been running well here on Day 2, and he made the call.

Carrion: {A-Diamonds}{Q-}
Opponent: {8-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}

It was a flip, and one that would land in Carrion's favor as the board ran out {4-Clubs}{3-Hearts}{7-Clubs}{6-Clubs}{K-Clubs}. Carrion had made the nut flush to eliminate his opponent and chip up to over 500K.

In addition, both Jim Mink and Joe Froekle have been eliminated from the tournament.

Hale Shows the Bluff

Krissi McFarland and Brant Hale were heads up on a flop of {5-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}{k-Hearts}. McFarland led out for 30,000, and Hale called.

The turn was the {4-Diamonds}, and McFarland led out again - this time for 45,000. Hale tanked for 30 seconds or so, then raised to 105,000. McFarland tank-folded.

"Your ace-king is good," she said.

Hale tabled {a-Hearts}{q-Spades} for a bluff.

Hien Nguyen
Hien Nguyen

Kevin "1SickDisease" Eyster opened for 11,000 from early position only to have Hein Nguyen three-bet to 24,500 from the button. Eyster made the call and then both players checked the {9-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}{A-Spades} flop, bringing about the {2-Diamonds} on the turn.

Eyster checked, Nguyen bet 28,000, and Eyster check-raised to 56,000. Nguyen instantly moved all in and Eyster snap-folded.

The Pre-Bubble Bubble Boy

Richard Lee (Day 1a) is the pre-bubble bubble boy
Richard Lee (Day 1a) is the pre-bubble bubble boy

Before "round-for-round" play began the bubble was burst right here on the stage.

According to the players at Table 3, Drazen Ilich opened on the button, and Richard Lee, who made the final table of the 2006 World Series of Poker Main Event, three-bet about half of his stack from the small blind. Ilich moved all in, and Lee called.

Ilich: {a-}{6-}
Lee: {q-}{j-}

The board ran out {k-}{10-}{x-}{x-}{7-}, and Lee was eliminated in 118th place.

The remaining 117 players are all guaranteed at least $2,804.

Conrad Exits with a Min-Cash

Action folded around to a short-stacked Chris Conrad in the small blind and he shipped for right around 30,000 holding {Q-}{9-}. Phil Mader made the call from the big blind with the superior {K-}{10-}, and Conrad was unable to improve. With that, he became on of the first in-the-money eliminations.

Lucky Sevens for Hall

Jason Hall
Jason Hall

Jason Hall opened for 11,000 from early position and received a call from Jason Li in middle position. When action reached the player in the big blind, he moved all in for 47,000, and Hall wasted little time in four-betting to 100,000. Li called off for 80,000 and there was a three-way all in.

Hall: {A-Hearts}{7-Hearts}
Li: {10-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}
Big Blind: {A-Diamonds}{K-Spades}

"Oh, I need a seven," Hall remarked. "Two sevens actually." The {9-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}{7-Clubs} flop gave him one of the sevens he was looking for, but he still needed to improve is he hoped to score the double elimination.

The {Q-Hearts} turn gave Hall a flush draw and opened a whole new door of possibilities, but it'd be the {7-Spades} that spiked on the river that gave Hall trips and the win. The table was in disbelief that Hall, who already had a mountain of chips, caught his card and scored the come-from-behind double elimination.

Davis Busts in Brutal Fashion

Nate Davis and Dusti Smith saw a flop of {7-Clubs}{j-Hearts}{4-Hearts}. Davis led out for 19,000, and after examining her opponent's stack, Smith tossed out a handful of grey T5,000 chips, putting Davis all in.

"Call," Davis said, committing his last 40,000 or so chips.

Davis: {k-Clubs}{j-Clubs}
Smith: {4-Diamonds}{2-Hearts}

The turn was the {q-Hearts}.

"Heart!" Smith exclaimed.

Sure enough, the {7-Hearts} fell on the river to give her a four flush and eliminate Davis from the tournament.

"Wow," he said with a shocked look on his face.

Layne Flack called Smith "the true lady luck" as she was stacking her chips, and Smith now sits with 290,000 chips.
